It's got pages, and covers and, oh yes, it's got words and pictures. Alternatively, you could always read reviews at sites like Amazon[^]. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what others think about a book - what matters is what it can give you.

Exactly. And besides all this, it is a good book.

I looked at books TOC and reader's reviews -- it is a good book for introduction to DT&A using C++, if the readers don't lie :)

Of course, it won't be free. I just need to know, if it is good as first book on A&DS or not. If not, than... any other recommendations?

You've looked up the etymology of bumf then? bumf n. colloq. usu. derog. papers, documents. [abbreviation of bum-fodder = toilet-paper]

Actually, no. I never heard the term, and there isn't one in my native language. I just remembered that the outdoor toilet (an improvised shack, if you want) at my grandparents never had any real toilet paper, only old school books and almanacs from the communist era. They were cool to look at - lots of pictures and the almanacs had some pretty useful stuff and good jokes in them, but they were not very soft on my bums and I always criticized my grandma for that. Sometimes I would get some notebooks too, and figured they were my father's. Nice historical past in there. Awwww. The good old days... :)
