Weven download lockup?
-
Has anyone else had IE8 lock up on them when trying to download the W7 RC? I tried it a couple of times and it not only locked up IE8, but also Notepad where I was going to past the product key they gave me. Works fine in FF, of course. I would suggest that maybe it's something peculiar on my system, but I get IE8 lockups all the time on other computers as well. My apologies if this is a repost.

I have something similar. Now constantly using Google Chrome or FF3.5.

Agreed. I am extremely unimpressed with IE8. It's terrible actually and I'm generally a pretty pro-MS guy. The JavaScript engine seems slow and prone to lock ups, the whole tab separation architectural seems to have been half finished, and the interface is clunky. Nevermine that the lack of an add-on model and the developer tools are poor to nonexistent. It finally drove me to make the switch to Firefox. I am extremely impressed with FF 3.5. It is stable, fast and much more user friendly than IE8. No matter whether it's IE or FF, I still have trouble accepting the fact that my browser now swallows up over 100MB of RAM but alas that's what you get when RAM is cheap.
