Hi guys :-D (and girls :-D)!!!!!! Oh by the way, are there any girls on Code prject? I know this may seem weird, but I always get the impression that all the guys on code prject are, well... guys... And when I say guys, most of the time I'm referring to 'people'. Anyway before I get off-topic too much like I usually do, here's a question for ya'll... I'm half way through an article on how to write a Simlpe Text Editor much like NotePad, but with more features. It's aimed entirely at the beginner but I think that anybody will enjoy reading it. I'd just like to know if anybody has any suggesstions and/or thoughts about it. Maybe there're some things that someone might want to see in the article? cheers jay

He was talking about the text in your article, I think.

Your new editor should somehow incorporate genetic algorithms.

There most certainly will be an explanation of my posts' subject in the article, but I'll write it in here anyway: It's really hot today, and I'm in a silly mood. :-D

Oh? Define "really hot"; it was 120F here yesterday.

And be a hybrid web client? (Or did that contest end already?)

About features for a text editor? Neither of the text editors I use regularly handles TABs properly: Notepad leaves the TABs intact. Edit uses eight SPACEs for a TAB and doesn't do pasting properly. I've never tried the other recommended text editors; I just stick with the known evils. As to writing an article; I would hesitate to write an article that presents a fully usable application, because some d-bag may take it and sell it, making money from your freely given hard work. I suggest breaking the application into several modules and presenting each one separately. If you have undo/redo you can write an article on how to that, if you have an auto-save feature that could be an article, etc. Plus, why write one article when you can write several and get platinum sooner? :-D

Hehe, That's a good idea. Although for a feature like that, I'd assume would take a while to make. But I am very interested in it and probably would consider it in the near future.

I know there are a few free ones around online. You could link to one of them...? So you get functionality but can still aim the article at a beginner. And I think you're right - it'd take ages to develop from scratch. Definately Interested in reading your article. I've used a few online ones like FCKeditor[^]

No, there are not "girls" on CP, but there are women such as myself.
Back in the blog beatch! http://CraptasticNation.blogspot.com/[^]
There's nothing wrong with using the term "girl". If you are a woman, according to any dictionary, you can also legitimately be called a girl, regardless of age or behavior. If you're suggesting we change the term "guys and girls" to "guys and women", you'll be dissapointed. :P  :rose:
