From this link[^] in the Daily News my eye lit upon the Psion Series 5[^], and I couldn't help but feel that updated with built-in WiFi, a USB socket to allow backup to PC, and a colour screen, it would be a nifty machine to carry around - smaller than a netbook and a much nicer keyboard than any smartphone.

I hope you realise that hamsters are very creative when it comes to revenge. - Elaine

... but not easy to carry around: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZX81[^] (and you'd have to change the processor, the memory, the motherboard, the keyboard and add many fancy extra peripherals)

You can't turn lead into gold, unless you've built yourself a nuclear plant.

I'm missing the relevance of the ZX81 to the Psion Series 5.

            Wasn't it brilliant?

Something like that but smaller - that's still a bit chunky.

I used my Psion 5 until it literally fell apart. Before that, I had a Psion 3. Now? O2 XDA, at the moment, but the keyboard isn't as good. I'm still looking for a suitable replacement.

My Psion 3 is still my alarm clock despite a broken hinge and a screen that doesn't always come on. I've also still got a series 5mx which is in prime condition but the main batteries wear out too quickly IMO so it sits in its box gathering dust. :-(
