Jeeez... this day seems to never end... According to the clock in my Windows Vista's toolbar anyway... I just noticed it has stopped :doh: How on earth is it possible that Vista can be so bad that it even fails at THAT!?!? On the plus side, my workday just jumped an houre closer to quitting time :-\

Thread that updates or synchronizes the time deadlocked with something else maybe? I'm on XP but wish I could find out what keeps blocking explorer, no idea where to start debugging that though I can get stack traces using windbg but don't know what to do with them and never see any traces of 3rd party shell extensions within them.

Aaah. I remember I was at a seminar about Vista when it came out. They mentioned the focuses of their different Windows versions. Windows ME had speed as it's main focus (And O'boy! Did it crash fast!). XP had stability. And Vista had Security. I remember I thought to myself "Hmmm... they are focused on other things than stability now? That can't be good". Microsofts approach to security seems to be making the computer hang, crash, slow down for no apparent reason and behave so unpredictably that it is really frustrating to hack. So remember. It's not a bug. It's a feature. :cool:

Doubt it's something serious but something hangs somewhere. The clock actually runs fine if I bring it up by double clicking the time in the toolbar. It's just that Vista somehow has stopped updating just the clock whatchamacallit in the lower left corner. It's nothing I find worth spending time on rebooting to fix since Vista uses a medium eternity rebooting and starting my necessary apps. It is however something I find well worth spending time ranting about! X|

Did you work on the Vista code base? It sounds like they could have used someone else on the team who can't tell the difference between left and right, or arse from elbow :)

The seminar was back when Vista was released so I wouldn't know. But it seems to me that the main focus of Weven is to get something else than Vista out there before all Vista users form a lynch mob and set Microsoft HQ on fire. :rolleyes:
