I started today. The whole day I am just looking for someone to put down. I suppose now I understand, how PMS feels like. It's just horrible. I can't even sleep. Tomaz

There's no need starving yourself dieting. Exercise, that's all you need to do. Food is fuel and your body is the car, if you pour gas into your car every day without driving, eventually it'll start spilling over. Play soccer, it's a very good sport activity. Dieting never works, cause when you loose the weight and go back to your beloved lazy-boy chiar:), the weight is going to come back.

My 2-cents from 148 kg, Look I don't wanna appear heartless, but BAD MOVE mate. Rehabilitation of Heroine Addicts has a higher success rate than dieting has. It's possible to get temporary gains, but these are often followed by rebounds on the scales. Regardz Colin J Davies

Don't start a "serious" diet without seeing a doctor, dietetitian, nutritionist, or something like that, they will guide you into a good eating and exercising pattern. There are ways to loose weight that can be very harmfull to the body, and can lead to serious deficiencies in vitamins, protein, and other stuff that you will leave out of your daily meals. Dieting should not be a chore, it should be something that is important, and that you can feel good about it, if you don't like it, don't do it; if you feel deprivation, you should look for another diet, or another doctor! I've not been on a diet for over 10 years, I have a constant weight, I re-started going to the gym regulary a year ago ( after 2 years without it ) and I fell good, I still have love-handles, I still don't fit well in "fashionable" cloth, but I can wear whatever I want, eat whatever I want! Don't trust pills, tv diet shows, tv exercising shows, specialty diets ( carrots only, meat only, grain, no grain, pasta, no paste, whathever, ... ) I don't believe they work! Max.

My friend has lost around 80lbs a few years back and he's had no problems whatsoever. The problem people have with dieting is this. They think "if i starve myself, i'll loose weight." True! You will. You'll loose, water, fat and muscle. What happens is that when you complete the diet, your metabolism is significantly lower than when you started out because of reduced muscle mass. You may even look worse than you began. So you have to eat less every day just to maintain your weight. Now, incorporate some resistance training into your diet, up your protein intake and take the fat loss slow, and you'll have no problems.

I have my way "dieting" , really getting to what you should be. If you do little, eat little. If you do much, eat much. :) Just make sure you you dont take in more than your body require. Eventually your body will balance to what it should be. :) Give them a chance! Do it for the kittens, dear God, the kittens! As seen on MS File Transfer: Please enter an integer between 1 and 2.

Dieting doesn't do **** by itself. You will lose 5-10 pounds quickly due to natural shedding of extra body water. Then weight will start coming off very slowly. You will get frustrated and quit. Cut out you high sugar foods and get exercise. But do it right. That old saying "no pain no gain" is BS. If your muscles start burning during exercise then you aren't breathing properly. Your cells aren't getting enough oxygen and will burn sugar. When your cells have enough oxygen, they will start converting fat to get energy. That is why they call it aerobics. :) Even a little exercise is better than nothing. I was able to slowly lose weight by the simple process of cutting out coke and doing 15-20 minutes of some type of leg exercise (legs have some of your largest muscles). Interesting story on this theme... Some years ago I put on a lot of weight. Most of it came from drinking non-diet soda in great quantities when I started work. I'd recently damaged my back so exercise wasn't an option. For years, I tried "stupid" dieting and lost nothing. Sure, I'd lose 10lb, then I'd realise that I didn't look any better, possibly even worse, I'd give up the diet and back comes the weight. Then I spent three months working in the US. I wasn't trying to lose weight, if anything my diet was abysmal (plenty of fast-food and excesses of imported Guinness), but my entire regime was different. I walked more, did a lot of housework (which I wouldn't have dreamed of doing at home, if I'm honest), etc. Nothing I did was particularly strenuous, just different. In three months I lost around 50lb. In the six months after I got back, I gained back about 10lb of that but the rest has stuck. I look better, I feel better, I feel no real need to lose any more; though I'm still clearly overweight, I no longer qualify for obesity. I keep doing "little" things and recently I've been getting treatment for my back (the doctors said nothing could be done but they were wrong) and I'm building up to improve my lifestyle some more, just for the hell of it this time. But NEVER again will I diet. Screw that. Paul

Get "The Zone" by Barry Sears. Much more sensible way to diet. It worked great for me, I felt great, and I didn't feel starved. Marc

Exercise, exercise, exercise. Walk 30-45 minutes every other day, lift small weights the others (www.menshealth.com). Keep dried fruits handy for snacks (rasins), stay away from the snack bars and other things. Eat normal meals - don't starve yourself, that just makes the body think you're in a famine and tries to get you to gorge yourself to store up on fat to ride out the lean times. And it makes you edgy.

(not really a reply specifically to Colin) If found this site that talks more about aerobic and anaerobic exercise. It seems my information is a little outdated, but still basically correct. http://www.well-net.com/cardiov/aerex1.html[^] The mussle burn I was specifically mentioning was the buildup of latic acid from anaerobic metabolism. The site says that some is to be expected. However, it does reinforce my statement that breating is very important to get the aerobic (fat burning process) going right. You shouldn't "diet". You should change your eating habits and try a bit of exercise. 1. Cut out processed sugars (cokes, white bread, white rice, etc.) 2. Try to eat 5-6 meals a day instead of 2-3. Try to eat every 2-3hrs. 3. Try to exercise at least 3 times a week. And it doesn't have to hurt to be beneficial. 4. Never eat fast food (McDonalds, delivery pizza, etc.) 5. Drink lots of water A typical day for me is 8am Breakfast: oatmeal or cereal and a glass of oj (300cal) 10am Snack: a small size protein bar (150cal) 12pm Lunch: small sandwich and some veggies or chips (the good kind) and salsa (600cal) 2pm Snack: piece of fruit such as an apple (100cal) 4pm Snack: crackers, apple, or protein bar (150cal) 6pm Dinner: fish, brown rice, and some veggies (600cal) 8pm Snack: fruit or frozen yogert if i'm still hungry total around 2000cal which will vary depending on your size If you eat like this you wont get hungry and feel like you have PMS. If you exercise it will help blanace out the big meals you have occasionally. Todd Smith

I used to have a hamburger, fries and a large root bear soda for lunch everyday. The first thing I did was replace the soda with a bottle of water. After about a month of that I then replaced the fries with some nice crispy lettuce although occasionally I still have the fries :-). So far I'm on my personal schedule of about 5 pounds per month. Unfortunately I do not have the time to exercise much except on the weekends .. but hey even a walk around the mall counts. I used to try and get the closest parking spot but now I find myself parking farther and farther away just to force myself to get a little more excercise in. Still, I do not get anywhere close to the 1 hr a day that was recommended by a recent govt report. Good Luck
