You still need to feel (a bit) suicidal for that.

True. Plus it probably won't uninstall everything. Like the ring for instance.

That's not even that much. Cheaper than a house.

 I assure you, she (and probably your mum and her mum and any females in both families involved) would sacrifice you on the nearest make-shift altar. It'll become more gruesome the closer it is to the wedding. Still funny though  Here, in the Middle East, getting married is a back-breaker. I coughed up my life savings for: 1. a house (3 bedroom apartment) 2. the wedding (about 23,000 JOD not counting the miscellaneous expenses and the honeymoon) (that's just over 19,000 GBP) 3. the bridal gold set (this set me back 13,000 JOD alone) Its expensive, but if she's the one, its so worth it :)

That sort of cash could fund a lifetime of sitting under a palm tree on an exotic isle watching the tide roll in.

Yeah, I think it's probably the same all over then! So far, we've looked at venues and food, which comes to about £10,000. That's obviously not including all the other bits and pieces like honeymoon, rings, clothes, flowers etc. Luckily, we are already living in sin together as we bought a house a few years back. Unluckily it is a house of horrors that hates me and wants to devour any surplus cash in my wallet at every opportunity. Even after 3 years I am still fixing problems. I call it "Event Horizon". :-\ I think I'm going to be working lots of over time...

From memory, the double marriage rings, a bracelet, a necklace, a pair of earrings and a watch (all gold, preferably white, decked with diamonds) there are several other optional accessories, such as tiaras (the one we bought had a tiara), what are known as belts, anklets, toe rings, and anything else that can make a man go bankrupt. In my case, it wasn't my then fiance or my mother in law that went overboard, but my own mother :(( [modification] fixed typo

I really, really hate that expression. Before I married, we lived together like man and wife. You know, no sex and lots of arguments. :-D The divorce solved the arguments bit anyway.

You've never been to a Jewish wedding I take it? If I really pushed and ran around like a headless chicken it can be done for under £15,000 or cheaper if I was to have it in Israel. Or cut down on guests.
