It's fine that you like FireFox but I just don't get the antagonism toward IE. I've not had a single problem (that I can recall) with IE6, 7 or 8: they work fine. Bizarre: it's just a piece of software, it isn't personal!

But that just it.It is personal. This is not just a piece of leisure-ware, throw away app, that I occasionally use. You, me and a heck of a lot of people here use it a lot. The same goes for Visual Studio, where I work with it on a daily basis. If it keeps tripping up, falling over, and making your life hell (work or otherwise), I would definitely take it personally! Anyway, enough ranting from me. It seems the majority of you guys have no issues with this release of Firefox, so I will fade to the background convince myself I am disillusional :)

I'm on 3.5.2, no problems at all. I have had no probs since I moved to 3.5.x, although I did have a few on previous versions.

I'm on 3.5.3 as well, and it appears to be perfectly stable to me. I was having a startup problem on XP64 (subsequent browsing was unaffected), but since I've moved to Weven, nary a hiccup...

The latest releases of Firefox (3.5?) seems to be spectacularly crashing at a rate approaching IE. Quite annoyed. I even had to fall back to using Chrome at some point. And no. I will not be going back to IE. I am not that desperate yet!

I had similar issues so I decided to give IE8 a chance. 3 weeks later and I'm still happy with IE.

Good point. I do have a few add-ins left over from previous versions. Maybe they are causing teething problems with this release. If it is though, then I think better safeguards against unruly third-party software should be at the top of their list.

I know it doesn't help you much (or even at all) but I love it. Very stable, and renders much faster than 3.0. Try disabling all your addins and then re-enabling them one by one.

There's the rubb! I think it isn't reviled because so many people don't run powerful add-ons like Firebug etc.
I'm still on 3.0.13. I have about 30 add-ons with about 20 active at any one time. The only crashes I get are occasionally on closing the browser. However, there does seem to be an issue with 3.5.x for some users. It appears that most report no problems but a few have regular crashes.

No, it really isn't personal, honest. Besides, most of the places I have worked in the last few years only allow IE so I suppose you just get used to it, quirks and all!

I had similar issues so I decided to give IE8 a chance. 3 weeks later and I'm still happy with IE.
IE8 is not terribly bad.

I guess another issue would be to get 'normal' users to try anything other than that which is already installed. Unless they are tech savvy why would they? Most people can just about email and IM. They're not going to download and install software if they already have something that does the job. And, again, from a corporate point of view, many only use IE as it lessens the support burden on overworked trolls. It's all very well for us geeky types to try all the latest doo-dads and widgets but normals simply don't have the neurons for it. Oh well, each to their own...

I've had (mainly) only debugging issues, but 3.5 on w7 rc1 and Vista sp1.

It's not user antogonism. I've never had any problems using IE, that I can recall because I stopped at early 6, but although I agree with their idiosyncratic box model, it gives me sh*t as a web developer to always have to open my door wider to IE. PS, when, in Aptana, I can flick between IE and FF preview without visible difference1, I will totally, and happily accept IE. 1 And without CSS Reset. :)

Yes, when I debug from VS into Firefox 3.0.x (start debugging as opposed to start without debugging) in ASP.NET/Silverlight, for example, it can be unstable.

And Opera, Mozilla and Google consider this "unfair," hence why MS is now going to be adding a browser ballot screen. :)

This has come up a few times... Mine runs great. But it didn't upon first upgrading to 3.5. And that surprised me, because i'd been testing with 3.5 nightly builds for months, and had no problems at all. Here are a few things to check...
- If you have any extensions that aren't compatible with 3.5 but you've force-enabled anyway (either using the Nightly Tester Tools add-on, or by disabling the checkCompatibility option in FF) then disable or uninstall them immediately. There's a reason why FF depends on extension authors to update their code for each major release...
- Clear your history and Downloads list.
- Make sure you have the latest version of Flash installed (if you have any version of Flash installed). Should be 10.something

NO! Firefox is banned at work, and I do no programming at home.
