from District 9[^]. I just saw this brilliant movie over the weekend. It has to be one of the best sci-fi movies I've seen for a long time. The allusion that the treatment of the aliens is parallel to refugee camp and racial segregation brings refreshing concept to an alien movie. However, I'm satisfied enough with the introduction of a non-hero protagonist and the fact that for once the alien ship did not land in New York or Washington DC. Anyone else has seen the movie? Actually where it lands doesn't matter at all, nor, in most movies made since the 60's are those two cities automatically the choice for a landing spot. Often multiple sites are chosen - even Sydney. ;P

Yes, I meant anti-hero. I did notice both of the movies you mentioned have been around for 20+ odd years, which is why I brought this movie as a recent example of a good one to watch. So IMO having watched brilliant movies that were produced 20+ odd years ago is not exactly reasons not to watch a new movie :)

I saw the movie last night and really liked it. Early in the movie it seemed that they were inconvenienced by the action scenes so they rushed through them to get back to the drama. But that's a pretty minor thing.

Don't the aliens usually just go there to blow things up? Same for asteroids, tidal waves, climate disasters etc. Those cities are magnets for a sci-fi beat down.
