Code Project either copied the Code Universe design or it either came up with it. I don't know that for sure but what i do know for sure is that CODE UNIVERSE DIDN'T COPY CODE PROJECT'S DESIGN. THIS IS FOR A FACT. I am the CEO of Code Universe and i have never ever heard of this site before until some people e-mailed me compaints telling me Code Universe copied Code Project's layout. I am very disappointed at people here at codeproject. They judge too quickly. IT IS PROBABABLY A QUINCIDENCE.

Ya - sure. The colours of the bar, the javascript for the menu item highlight (whihc you didn't even get working right!), even the graphic 'Miscellany'!!! CodeProject has had that design for a year and a half. And what about the name - 'code universe' - is there any affiliation with www.codeuniverse.com or did you steal that too?

I am emailing Hafeez privately to sort this out. For the record: The original Code Project design and graphics were done by Glenn Price at Bluestone Design under contract in October 1999. So pleaes - no more flames, no more accusations. It's just too nice a day outside. cheers, Chris Maunder

Well said. The weather in Hobart sucks, but all the more reason to keep things pleasant inside.;) Christian I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in. The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Bwhaahaahahahaha. I doubt very much that something that blatant could be a QUINCIDENCE. I am disappointed if this guy got flamed though - that to me is just a dumb thing to do. It's possible that both Chris and this guy got the layout format from somewhere else, but for them both to sit down and write the same thing, same colours ? If you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you. Either way, I'm sick of talking about Code Universe. What does it matter ? Christian I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in. The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

I came to the conclusion a while back that in spite of Chris' good work and a lot of potential, CodeProject is of limited value because of the jerks that populate it. This whole thread is a good example.

Bwhaahaahaaha - this is too funny. I'm a bastard for saying I agree that it's a good idea to drop this thread and talk about something more intelligent/interesting/&tc. ??? Then you post again saying that this thread is an example of why Code Project sucks, but you hate *me* for saying we should drop it ? Do you buy the drugs that get you into this state, or do you subsist on baked banana skins and nutmeg ? Christian I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. I have looked at the two sites and don't see a lot of similar things. A few colors are similar, but the overall approach is somewhat different. What I find on codeuniverse is mostly links to other sites, and little or no resident code or articles. Many of the links don't work. On CodeProject most of the articles and code appears to be resident on codeproject. This is a good thing as it make downloading info quite reliable. What I do see for codeuniverse is a site spokesman who is quick to anger and call people names. That is not exactly good press. Ed Dixon

It seems to me that the value of code is more related to the code itself, and not those around it. What I see on code project are lots of good articles and code posts. I see lots of comments and messages from various people and names I recognize. The few comments that are more negative in nature are typically from anonymous posters. Rejecting a code site because of your dislike for the people who post there is not all that logical. I like the food at McDonalds. I go through their drive-through a couple times per week. If there happen to be customers inside who I don't like, I don't have to interact with them, and the food tastes the same either way... Ed Dixon

All programmers are assholes. If we had real personalities we would have gone into sales.

I understand this is some sort of throwaway line, but I thought I'd throw this in: I worked in sales successfully for seven years before quitting to become a programmer. Ugh. I'd say that more salespeople were a**holes, but anyway... Look, I might look like I'm standing up for CodeProject here, but I'm not. I only made one other post on this forum ever. First off - if you're going to insult someone, at least have the guts to use your real name and not stay anonymous. It's like a snowball fight with the anonymous one wearing armour. Secondly, why judge a website based solely on the community forum? I don't give a flying f*** if some idiot is hanging nearby a piece of information, if I find it useful, I will use it. On the forum I inhabit, we're usually highly civil. However, I found out the hard way that if someone comes in to a forum and thinks that people are crap there, that this is the message they get through to other viewers because they are lying flaming spamming d***heads. Anyway, that's my 2 cents. - Nanoprobe [nanoprobe@thekeyboard.com] Visit Colliderring.com - [http://colliderring.net-games.com/\]
