It gets worse, not being religious we opted for a registry do, so not too bad for cost. However we were given the date we have as it was the last one available at that office until about the same time next year and we needed to get married a bit quicker than that (no she isnt pregnant, family issues). So we have had a total of 3 weeks up to now and the next 2 to get everything done. Current Budget £4000 We are looking at spending some big money on something special a couple of years down the line. We have an interesting Jeweller popping round to see us this evening about the rings, if you want I can give you their info tomorrow if they are any good.

Yeah, because im Indian and she's white we've gone for a civil doo. Its in a hotel though hence the £11k total price tag! That'd be good if you could forward their details, where abouts are they? Sounds like you've got a hell of a lot more of a mission than me! Good luck mate!

0238 number was what they phoned me from. Primarily web based but they have reps with samples that they send around to discuss your requirements. So easy to fit around work and other searching at weekends. Just have to wait and see what their rings are actually like.

Hi guys. Anyone know what would be the best way to try and get some extra weekend / evenings software development work. I live in the Nottingham (UK) area and me and my partner are trying to save for our wedding. We haven't got much time so are both resorting to working weekeds. Any ideas on how to raise a bit of ££?

I can relate - I'm getting married Feb next year and money is quite tight! Nobody wants to give us money because the missus is from a non-EU country. I've not had much luck getting extra programming work though, but I do some ski teaching when I get chance.

Hey, If you don't mind something a bit different, I got a titanium ring, which is really quite nice and considerably cheaper than gold...

I am getting married on October 31st. Similar thing, though my love has received German citizenship already, so everything got a LOT easier. We already spent 500€ in fees alone, not including the citizenship-thingy, the wedding is gonna be "small", but still... The titanium-ring-thing above sounds reasonable for me, but then I have a gold-coin that I was thinking about turning into our rings somehow. Then I found out that this is gonna be more expensive than buying a "pre-manufactured" ring.

The actual cost of the gold in a ring is trivial. Gold's currently running ~$940/troy ounce = $30/gram. When buying a ring, you're primarily paying for markup, labor, markup, design, markup, manufacturing, and markup. There's a reason why jewelry looses more value when you step through the jewelers door than a car does when you drive it off the dealers lot.

Call her parents and ask them for an early down-payment on the dowry :) best, Bill

The company is called Forever Wedding Rings, currently their website is being updated so they don't have any rings up there. Tel: 023 8033 5999 Web: www.foreverweddingrings.co.uk They currently have a £100 discount and an extra £100 if you have diamonds. If you mention me then you should get an extra £50 off and they are already cheap compared to the high street.
