Actually I'm kind of bummed, I just checked the NYC event and it's all booked up :( So no Weven for me. And after having blown close to $400 on Vista, I'm not really too anxious to rush out and blow at least another $200 on Weven.

I'm debating going to the launch event for Weven, besides the loot (Weven Ultimate) I'm wondering how likely it is to be worth my time to attend. http://www.microsoft.com/business/thenewefficiency/default.aspx[^] Edit: changed URL to main page instead of my local(ish) event.

This always annoys me. Why do they not put any events in the UK? Those topics sound really interesting, but there isn't one near me.

Looks like developers can get away with only attending the morning session. I can trade 4 hours for a new OS and be back at work by noon-ish. Victory Stewy.

It's a ~100min drive for me; so if I go I'll end up losing most of the day unless I want to work late...

Yeah, I'm sure work will pay to fly me out there 'cause I'm too damn cheap to buy Weven. :)

Mine's about sixty miles away, but I have friends nearby so I'll invite myself over the night before. :-D

My parents live about 15 miles away, but that won't help me in getting back from work. :-/

AFAIK these promotions are run by the local distribution office, so it's MSUK being cheaper/more boring than MSUS; not MS Corporate snubbing the UK.

Chicago was booked, fortunately Minneapolis wasn't booked yet. I went to the XP release years ago and for the most part it was not very informative. I don't remember anything about optimizing and "Creating New And Exciting Users Experiences" from that one though. Well, at least it is a copy of Weven?

I signed up for the one in Denver before it really sunk in that this is a four-hour round trip for roughly 3 hours of content and a free DVD. Bah... Hopefully this won't be as lame as the VS event i went to last time; that was a complete waste of time.

I just pulled the trigger, so barring any snarfus with the maximum number of attendee's not being update in real time (has happened with other MS give away programs), or in getting time off (unlikely) I'll be attending the Weven Developer session in Pittsburgh the morning of the 30th.

The last time I went to a Microsoft Launch event, the free product they handed out turned out to be a time-limited version. As a side issue, the content was all hoopla, with little practical educational value - a glorified, extended sales pitch. On the bright side, the lunch served was excellent. I won't bother with another event for a very long time.

There's supposed to be a breakfast; there's no way they'd get me up there at 7AM without that. I hope it's worth the effort...
