I just did an upgrade install (from Vista) yesterday night before going to bed, and this morning everything works. What took me the most works is recreating my quick launch toolbar. And the system does feels snappier. I particularly like the new media player, almost instant startup and read all my videos! :)

How are Aero animations? On my system they're not exactly smooth. They were better in Vista...

Which animation are you referring too? Things like menu fading or window resizing? Haven't noticed anything in particular. But I do like the review when hovering the taskbar and the auto tiling when mousing on the side of the screen!

In particular window minimize and close animations. They're often not smooth.

Mm, I don't know why it so... At any rate it's all smooth on my laptop! +... it's really time to go to bed now.... so I can't compare my settings too much right now, but post your settings here, and I will post mine tomorrow, so we can try to compare and see what's different. For the install I did nothing special, just upgrade from Vista Ultimate 64bit to Weven 64 bits. At work someone has an old slow laptop with Vista Ultimate 32bits and he upgraded to Weven 32bits and it's snappier for him too!

I have a similar (6GB ram) setup and have not noticed anything untoward as regards performance. Quite the opposite, actually. Love Weven: Vista on bad-boy steroids.

Just came back from bed for some reason... Your PC is way better than mine! Just out of curiosity, I have a 7200rpm hard drive, is it any better? Strange indeed...

Well, Western Digital Velociraptors are 10,000rpm SATA2 drives. I have two running in RAID0, so on average it gains 50-75% of performance. I hardly think it has anything to to with animations anyway.

If you are upgrading from vista (which I did), you will be more than happy. Weven is like heaven for all those who suffered with Vista.

I just installed Win7 Ultimate x64 also on my laptop (ran it on my desktop for two weeks) and I only needed to manually install two drivers (I thought I was doomed because Sony never provided x64 drivers, but I've been lucky!)

I had a lot of issues when I had vista (home basic), system was dead slow and system crashed very frequently. But when I upgraded to Weven, all the issues disappeared and system is much much better now...
