Thanks for recommending STW, Ed. :)

No probs, just a shame that things in my world have shifted almost exlusively to Linux.

Hi all, So after a great week off in NYC I'm back at work and am pushing management to install a Wiki for our products so the support guys can search for problem to solution and update as and when needed. So I thought I'd ask for recommendation form people on here as to what would be a good Wiki to install? Thanks all

I've used MediaWiki before and even though it can take a little tweaking to get it how you want it, it is a brilliant bit of software, the last place I worked at we installed it for developer and hardware documentation on a Windows 2000 server running IIS and MySQL 5 and it was a breeze. I've also heard a lot of good things about MoinMoin.

I'm just going through the same process and we have gone with MediaWiki;. I am finding very easy to get going and looks professional. The amount of extensions available and ease of integration so far has been great

If you use Windows client machines (the server can be either Linux or Windows), then I would suggest something like MyOmnibus. It has a full WYSIWYG editor and a more intuitive UI than the usual browser based Wikis.

I also would have recommended ScrewTurn wiki - I use the desktop version for my project documentation. <suckup> I have found it to be one of the best pieces of software I have ever used on my computer - very easy to use, and does exactly what I need it to do </suckup> Chris

We use Confluence by Atlassian. http://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/[^] It seems pretty decent. It's the only one that I have worked on so I'm not sure how it compares to the competition.

Apparently, by the 1 vote I received, someone doesn't. It is just that they are ignorant to the power of SharePoint and don't like to be frustrated by someone voicing an opinion that they don't understand. Their problem, not mine. :~
