To get minerals out of them ?

Sorry for the lateness of the reply. Yes, that's quite correct. The sheer size of the operation makes it feasible to extract dissolved metals and minerals from the ocean. Gold is just one and not the main interest. There's Manganese and Aluminum and several other exotic metals such Molybdenum and Niobium that are much in demand. The world demand would shoot through the roof if the price went down a bit (either due to simplified extraction from the sea or through simple supply and demand) opening the door for thousands of new applications. The technology is still in the development stage. Its cool being around my dad because he's so into science and so I get to hear about lots of new stuff.
If the post was helpful, please vote, eh! Current activities: Book: Devils by Fyodor Dostoyevsky Project: Hospital Automation, final stage Learning: Image analysis, LINQ Now and forever, defiant to the end. What is Multiple Sclerosis[^]?

It sounds cool. Is it otherwise harmless to the ocean and to fish ?

Completely. Well, so long as you don't direct the suction pumps right into the middle of a reef. Even then, they'd have to place meshes and so on, so they won't get sucked into the plant (its a long process). Otherwise, chemically, nothing because the residual "effluent" water is still sea water less those salts that were extracted. The ocean itself will not be emptied of water at the rate of consumption and the returned water is safe to drink (assuming you can handle the saltiness of the ocean) and the suction itself is through wide diameter pipes (in excess of 2m) so the volume is large but the flow speed is not so the chances of a fish being sucked in are terribly low.

Your "I'm trying to appear intellectual" language is fucking hilarious.

I originally started in Ocean Engineering in the 70s when it seemed the next big thing. One of the things we thought then would be a big source of minerals from the ocean is the manganese nodules found over large tracts of the ocean floor. Kennecot Copper even formed a consortium to go after them and wanted the group I worked for to be their engineering arm but upper company management wouldn't go for it. I'm not sure how environmentally sound plowing large sections of ocean floor would be today.
You measure democracy by the freedom it gives its dissidents, not the freedom it gives its assimilated conformists.

UN wants new global currency to replace dollar[^] HUH? I told you this is going to happen but all you stupid ass sniffing retards say is "You make this up to make you feel like your not a failure" or some stupid ass bullshit. Front and center what you need to know... It is a global scheme of a currency system, controlled by an international institution(s). All the currencies in the world will be subjected to the intervention of the international body(s). It does a great deal at eroding the sovereignty of all nations through the management of their currencies by global minded powers. It does a great deal at eroding the sovereignty of all nations through the management of their currencies by global minded powers. It is a consolidation of power. We all know by now that through the manipulation of the dollar and other currencies, our economy has been destroyed and almost all people have been robbed of their wealth and have been enslaved by the national debt. Ninety-Five percent of the value of the dollar has been lost since the establishment of the federal reserve. Now we are going to go to a consolidated global scheme? bullsh*t on that. There is nothing you can say that will convince me that it is a good thing, because it simply isn't good to consolidate power like that. There is no reason for anyone to have that kind of power for any reason whatsoever. List of prominent people who have spoke out against centralized power over monetary systems. The first witness to be called is Abraham Lincoln. He warned, "I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and cause me to tremble for safety of my country; corporations have been enthroned, an era of corruption in High Places will follow, and the Money Power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the People, until the wealth is aggregated in a few hands, and the Republic destroyed." Congressman Wright Patman decared, "In the U.S. today, we have in effect two governments. We have the duly constituted government, then we have an independent, uncontrolled and uncoordinated government in the Federal Reserve, operating the money powers which are reserved to congress by the Constitution." Congressman Charles L

So you don't understand parody? Well I'll point out the fact that that was one, and what's more the joke's at the expense of idiots like you.

I didn't present that video, you did. You presented it as if that is what I believe, I don't. I don't subscribe to conspiracy theories, I am not a conspiracy theorist. Everything I have stated in this thread is fact, plain and simple.
