    I cannot find any links supporting this? Has anyone else? Ok, let me clarify. The poll had the test, the test and other searches link to "profiles" of the various types. What I am seeking is hard facts or studies that indicate "many developers are type INTJ". As "2%" of the population, how was that generalization come to? Seems to me this might be one of those "87.023% of all statistic are made up on the spot" situations.

    Kind of appropriate since Myers-Briggs is pretty much made up as well.

      May be because the poll said that there have been claims that many developers are type INTJ, the poll supports the idea. People may have voted INTJ without going through that painful test.

      While it may be entirely possible, are you seriously suggesting many people saw the poll say lots of devs are INTJs, and voted INTJ? You might as well ask for all CP polls to be scrapped, because your argument (that people vote 'dishonestly') is valid for all polls.

        I kept thinking:

        mov    eax,12A6H
        mov    esi,buffer
        intj

        Software Zen: delete this;

            Well what else are the INTJ folk going to do? Even biting the heads off of chickens requires an extroverted personality. :-D

              Even better - ignore the parts of the site you don't like, and those of us who think the polls are fun can keep doing them.

                CP Polls and the internet Polls in general are fun and I will not consider them "scientiffic". I will not read too much into them.

                  Actually, it's based on Introvert/Extrovert, Right Brained/Left Brained studies and is often observationally correct, but is practically useful in narrow circumstances. Beyond that's it's just a party game. (My own experienced is simply understanding someone's level of Extrovertedness/Introvertedness is more valuable, especially from a management perspective, though even then just not being an asshole is the best course of action.)

                    The test - together with the geeks=INTJ cliché - was popular on the internet a few years ago. I've never seen any hard data for that, except that on some places that linked it, many techies/developers came out as INTJ. It might very well be a "that's the way I want to see myself" phenomenon. INTJ is the profile that fits developer stereotypes (and I don't use this word with a negative connotation - there's reason we have and use stereotypes). However, Myer-Briggs is, ah, not the most modern view on personality types, to put it nicely.

                    Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]

                        Here's a free online test[^]. Apparently, I am INFP, but I don't think I answered half the questions properly. I mean, I'm pretty quiet and all, but I never really saw myself as a "very expressed introvert" and I've never been a Healer. I usually play Tank or DPS type characters.

                        I got ENTJ. The E strength was only 1% though.

                          Yeah that's for general idea and really some guys don't care abt it. But yeah it depends on the person if they are getting with it seriously or just for fun. So always there will be a chance for mixed outcome. :doh:
