Should I rotate(swap) my screens?

I've got dual monitors and generally the right one is the main one with therefore more white on it. Do people think it's work physically swapping them around every few months so they get equal wear? I suppose this would be like the concept of rotating your tyres on your car, but a lot easier to do.

Are they CRT or LCD? I've not seen much about burn-in on LCDs. Do they suffer from this?

Suppose you could if you wanted. I've got two screens on my desk that have stayed in the same physical configuration for the last two years, similar usage pattern to what you said (except the left's my main one...) and I've had no issues.
Java, Basic, who cares - it's all a bunch of tree-hugging hippy cr*p

I have a Dell LCD (a bit older, I admit) and it certainly shows signs of burn-in of some windows that I always use and that are always in the same place.

Interesting. It's just that there were always articles about it on CRTs, but as I said, I've read very little about it on LCDs. Maybe it's assumed that everyone knows about it by now.

Yes, they do, I've worked for B&O and they explained me that their high end TVs had a mini camera that was used each day you shut down the TV in order to look at it and auto-adjust the brightness and so on in order to maintain the same quality of the image through years... Nice thing indeed...

If one of your screens starts to show burn-in, it's your excuse to get a bigger one.

:) That's how things seem to work here, and I imagine people break their stuff on purpose. On a serious note, with global warming it would be better to make screens and pcs last longer. My other concern is that you might not notice the screen had gone slightly wrong and be doing your eyes in.
