About Articles and their authors...
-
You know how at the bottom of articles there is a message board attached so you can comment and have discussions? Are the authors the moderators of these areas? e.g. Can they delete your posts?

No - unless they are also a site moderator.

An author will be notified of messages posted to their articles. But they are not moderators in the sense that they can delete messages. It's possible that they can request a delete, but they can't do it themselves. Additionally, the message could be voted for removal, similar to what happens on some of the forums. :)
Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] In theory there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice there is. [Yogi Berra]

I believe that posts made prior to the article being "approved for publication" are removed when the article finally gets approved. This can be a problem, if true, because there are people who have been around long enough to be gold, who will approve absolute crap.

No. However you are the moderator of your personal page. There you can edit or remove messages that aren't yours. :)

Thank you for all the reponses people. I just thought I had put an intelligent "attaboy" message on the first Operating system "how to" with a few pointes of my own (I'm an OS development fan - have been for years... just need lots of time and Money LOL) anyways, I asked because my response was not there when I looked today. I think my post was just straight geek talk and not over the top or anything, and people don't usually delete my posts to my knowledge so I curious how it all worked. Maybro there is something to the comment that unpublished articles get "Scrubbed" when published. That could of done it easy enough. Thank You all, Have a great day :) --Jason P Sage

Which is why many of us don't like that "feature".

I don't know that the message was actually posted. If you're talking about one of my articles, then I've not had any message notifications about any posts of yours. I've not deleted it.
OSDev :)
Well that's awesome - I loved your article and I'm a total nut about the kind of stuff your writing articles about. I mentioned how Intel is a good source for both hardware and chip set programming reference manuals and that last I knew they still shipped them free to developers to encourage intel chip use. also there is a great (dated but good) 386 protected architecture book I used to have from SAMS I think that helped me wrap my head around the segment descriptors, memory model choices.. made me wish Novell didn't lose focus - their network server had a FAST configuration... all they needed was a gui LOL. I'm also following a freepascal OS effort - totally written in Freepascal - a departure from the C/C++ GNU stuff - which all rocks - just freepascal has alot to offer too, especially on intel because of how it uses the stack for calls - but I digress. Keep up the good work on the articles. (it was probably my browser or something) --Jason
