I just received "The Lost Christmas" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra from Amazon today. Yeah, it's early, but every year when the season rolls around and I go searching, the stores are sold out. I have to say that it's quite good, but it's hard to call it Christmas music. Wizards in Winter is excellent, musically, but the rest is sullied by the vocals. Great moralistic stories in the lyrics, but I wish they'd stick to what they do best - instrumentals. Beautiful stuff when the voices are absent; they're brilliant performers, somewhere between Queen and Chip Davis' crowd. Still, I recommend a listen...

Roger, I am Very Tempted Indeed to vote you a one on this. Not because I disagree with the sentiments, and I have never heard the musicians in question, so I have no opinion on that either. But.... It is SEPTEMBER!!!! Please do not mention the C word! I have seen mince pies on the shelves of our super markets already, and the big tins of Roses and Quality street chocolates with reindeer and santas on them. Heavens to Betsy, can we have five minutes without being hyped to hell to spend more hard earned on ill-gotten?

I was shopping at Home Depot last weekend, and the buggers already have the garden stuff put away and the shelves stocked with Christmas decorations! It's still 103&#!&^F here, and it's not yet Halloween! Where's the decency? At least they didn't have carols playing on the Musak... yet.

Isn't Alec Skolnik in that band, when he's not in Testament ?

I have a vague recollection of a viral Christmas email going round a couple of years ago with a house covered in fairie lights which were synced to that tune. I may be totally wrong though

I don't see his name in the credits, Christian, but possibly he wasn't involved in this particular piece.

You are totally right. But this year there's a new entry featuring an Airstream travel trailer and the same tune. I refer to it as Bullhead City Lights. :-D

In the stores here in Mexico you can find Independence day (September 16, not may 5), dia de muertos (Halloween) and Christmas decorations in august, this is really confusing, maybe we should be celebration a deadly independent Christmas

Makes me a little sad that one of my favorite metal bands, Savatage, kind of morphed into TSO and never went back. Can't say I blame them too much as I'm sure the pay is much better, but sad to me nevertheless.

Have you got the latest Testament? IMO it's one of the best metal albums in recent memory.
