So, Tuesday night I had an EEG and an MRI because of the seizure that I had. The EEG was a pleasant experience, very low key and quite, but the MRI, holly cow... LOUD! I was very surprised about the noise, and the close quarters of the machine. I am not really huge, but I barely fit. And I am not sure how anyone that has the slightest bit of claustrophobia deals with the close space and the noise. Less than 24 hours latter however I got the call that no one ever wants to get. Something was seen on the left side of my brain that makes them want to take a serious look and I was asked to come back and meet with a Neuro-oncologist, and I have been put on anti-seizure medication. Holly crap folks. :omg: :wtf: :omg: Sorry to use this as a place to vent, but... Maybe I should just go vent my fears over on my own blog hugh...

Sorry to hear that Ray, hopefully the follow up shows it to be less of a concern than you are thinking it is now.

Good luck, man. Really. And I think the amount of noise must depend on the model of the MRI machine. I've been in several. Some were pretty quiet; the last one I had done, here in Cheyenne, was deafening. (I think it was an older model.) As for claustrophobia, taking a painkiller ahead of time works pretty well - I just nod off while they do their thing.

I once had similary scary news, but the condition turned out to be something completely benign. Hopefully you have similar luck or, if it so happens to not be something benign, hopefully you've caught it early (in which case, I guess seizures are good for something).

Sorry to hear this man. My cousin had something similar a few years ago (he had a seizure too, and the scan revealed something like yours did) - turned out to be blood clot in his brain. They did a surgery and he's completely back to normal now. The surgery was non-trivial (it was the brain after all) but recovery time was just a few weeks, and I believe he was back to work in a month, and resumed drinking soon after. Of course your case may be completely different. Best wishes.

Gosh. That's gotta be quite a life-shaking bit of news. Let's hope it's something the medical folks can take care of. Let us know what comes of it.

Ray, I wish you the best my friend. Having recently gone through a similar ordeal, I sympathize with your worries. I just hope that its no were near as bad as you think it is and I hope that its quite a simple thing and that you're going to be complaining about the guy that called you because he gave you the wrong impression over the phone. Chin up :rose: I'm a big guy (6'2" >120Kg) and generally not claustrophobic at all but it felt quite constrained in the MRI tunnel. It was as loud as you said but they gave me ear muffs. What I hated was that occasionally, when my elbow touched the side, I'd get a minor yet unpleasant jolt through my elbow.
