While I am adequate in using Word I don't know squat about Excel or Powewpoint and see no reason why that should reflect on my programming ability. My company is hiring for a programming position right now. One of the resumes we receive, the applicant stated he took 6 months off to work on his personal web site (and supplied us with the address). Naturally, we looked at the site. It consisted of a single page with one picture and a link to an email address beneath it. We aren't planning on interviewing him.

blame the colleges - I've known a couple of talented people, who couldn't afford home pc's or the internet, who could write superb database projects in classic C(time on the college pc's was limited to coursework), but had no idea how to use most software we take for granted. Very sad. :suss:
