They didn't hold a launch event in my town. They did for Vista, Office 2007, VS 2005 and VS 2008 and all were packed, so I don't understand the resistance.

They (MS) just recently (for the launch events) restarted the in-person events and they have been slowly scaling up. My closest one is 3hrs away this time (usually there is one in my home town).

I applied to host one. Not because I was actually going to host one, but because they send you a free copy of Win7 ultimate. I got rejected. I wonder if somehow they knew.

A co-worker has one. She got a free 7 copy (good one at that) and stuff for a party. The only requirement is that 7 be shown during the party. So she and her husband now have an excuse to throw a party and supplies. Their PCs will be turned on so we can look at 7 while watching movies, eating and generally being foolish. I shouldn't say we, I couldn't find a sitter. :(

How many of you are holding (perhaps secretly, so as not to embarrass yourself) a Windows 7 launch party? C'mon, I know you're out there. Somewhere. Secretly lusting after the goodness in Weven, and salivating at the thought of being able to foist its moist chewy goodness (like a cake!) on your unsuspecting friends!

We wore bathing suits in the hot tub for the first time ever in our hot tub in over 5 years last sunday when we had a guest over who was not comfortable with her nudity. I felt very chivalrous and "confined". We'll turn her around some day. ;)

Many, many years ago in a browser far, far away (NetScape) a friend of mine found an **ahem** interesting chat room. One evening one of the young ladies asked him if he was a SALMON. As he was telling me about this escapade, I immediately quipped "Ah", "Sad And Lonely Man On t'Net" (laughs all round), but it turned out that it referred to the practice of wrapping smoked salmon round a certain part of the male anatomy before ..... well, you know. :-O Why they though this was a good thing to do, I know not. Perhaps they were practising to become lesbians and were trying to acquire a taste for it. :-D

:) Sounds like a bit of leg pulling but hey whatever floats their boat and doesn't harm anyone.

When by "launch party", you mean "get a new computer, Install W7, try to import the old OS into a VM, move or reinstall W7 on the original OS's disk, try to revive one of the graphics cards I have around here, run some performance tests on the new box, consider potential upgrades, and generally much around with computer stuff" then yes, I will hold one glorious launch party.

They probably checked facebook if you actually have any friends at all.

No, but how about an H1N1 party?
