I introduced a colleague to the term "Bobby Tables" the other day, after a discussion about SQL input sanitisation. http://xkcd.com/327/[^] And an electronics engineer friend commented the other day that he used to understand computers when he did "Narrow Code" - meaning assembler - but didn't understand all of this "Wide Code" that I wrote. We also have the term "Green Code" for code comments. Do you have any strange terms for programming / computer related things?

How about Blue code - for code with f*ing stupid bugs in it :mad:
No trees were harmed in the sending of this message; however, a significant number of electrons were slightly inconvenienced. This message is made of fully recyclable Zeros and Ones

If you haven't made changes to the color scheme in VS2008 for C# red code is quoted literal strings.

"Green code" is cool :) How about "Code blue" for something that causes a lock-up (or coloration of the air).

My group uses the term "flush and fill" to stand for reformatting and reinstalling the OS. We make commercial ink-jet printing systems. Occasionally you have to 'flush' the ink handling hardware with a cleaning fluid, and then re'fill' it from the supply tank to remove clogs and contaminants.

"Code complete" for code we think meets the requirements or spec. In reality, the code is junk because the end users changed their mind the moment that the developers started working, and of course, did not update the specs :D
