    I was perusing the developer tools section in the MSDN subscription downloads, and I couldn't find a download for VC5 or VC6. You can download VB2(!?) if you want, but not VC5/VC6. Did someone at Microsoft lose the last disc? :~

      You can't download VC6 anymore as there was a little issue of a law suit from Sun about something called Java, the end result is no more VC6. I believe it was something to do with the Java Virtual Machine and the Visual J++ language. regards,

        You can't download VC6 anymore as there was a little issue of a law suit from Sun about something called Java, the end result is no more VC6. I believe it was something to do with the Java Virtual Machine and the Visual J++ language. regards,

        :doh: Now I remember! :doh: Sun should just give it a rest. That version of Java should be prescribed by now anyhow...

          They removed it because its shear speed and reliability was proving embarrassing for the later versions :)

            Truer words were never spoken (at least for VC6, I never used VC5).

              I never understood why they had to pull VC6. I realize the original visual studio suite image had to go, but aside from building a new installer that included everything but VJ++, or just offering the other tools in stand alone installers I don't see anything that would have stood in MS's way to keeping them available.
