Dear Sirs, I can't seem to get e-mail notifications for forum posts. I see that there is a section in my settings about forums, and it's set properly to e-mail me when 'someone replies to this message.' But, I don't get messages. I'm pretty sure I have the correct e-mail address, too. Anyone have ideas?

Are you on Yahoo, perchance? They seem to be having trouble, of late. I get a lot of emails days after they are sent. They are roughly as fast and reliable as transmitting messages by carrier pigeon in an area with lots of hawks. And don't even get me started on their ajax failures...

Dear Mr. Gantww, Nope, no Yahoo, I'm using Windows Live. Thanks for your feedback. I stopped using Yahoo! because I'm tired of seeing mostly-naked girls, and that happened a lot on Yahoo!.

Hmm. Looks like I'm missing more email than I thought. All I get are viagra ads and Nigerian scams. I feel like I've been ripped off now.

I'm mostly talking about the ads, weightloss, singles, victoria's secret, weightloss, and others.

You can add those ad-related sites to your hosts file and redirect them to your loopback address. They just show up as an empty box then.

Ads displayed on Yahoo are selected according to your recent searches and visited sites. :-\

Dear Sir, Well, all those are excellent posts about which e-mail provider I could use...responses: I get tired of adding to the HOSTS file, there are always new ones anyway. I can't answer the targeted ad response...what is there to say? I've had the account for something like ten or 14 years now; no telling what they've seen me doing. It doesn't matter because GMail has barely-noticeable ads!! Not to mention the functionality is as good as I've seen. Anyway, good news, the posts from this forum are making it to my Live inbox. Oh yeah, I guess I said Live originally, so perhaps I should explain. I use Live for this purpose because I don't want my GMail inbox cluttered. Perhaps someday I'll create a filter or something (I assume this is possible), but for now, I use Live for this and a couple other things, and GMail for my primary work and communication. Thanks again for all your help!
