I've been looking for a new computer game or two, either in the RPG, Strategy genres. ( not Multi lUser games ) I've bought the Empire Earth horribly boring expension pack, and didn't play it often, maybe once or twice. I played Morrowind for some times this summer, but I got bored killing the same monster everytime, and got bored at the story, and didn't finish it up. I started playing civilisation III , and liked it, but I grew out of it ... I'm now back to diabloII, and I like it, but seems that there might be some new games coming out, especially Age of Mythology (strategy), Arx Fatalis(RPG). Age of Mythology looks cool, even has Flying Elephants[^] And in Arx Fatalis I've read that you can cook some foods! ( I don't have a link for it ) Any suggestions ? is Warcraft a good temporary substitute for solo playing ? Max.

Diablo 2 should come with a warning - no game will ever match up to it :-D Even Warcraft 3, also by Blizzard, cannot begin to compare. In fact, Age of Empires 2 (despite oldish graphics) is better than WC3(IMO). Good luck finding something to beat D2. BTW - do you play on battlenet, and if so, who should I be looking out for?

Dave Goodman on funny error messages:
It is a definite no-no to run BITMAP as a user command. Your nose will grow, your lawn will die, your hair will fall out, and your first-born will marry an aardvark. Shame on you!

Dungeon Siege is boring, and I didn't like it, graphics are nice, but playability is bad. started at easy, finished the game in less than 24 hours ( not straight hours ). started again in normal, finished in a bit less than 24 hours, just because the monsters are a bit tougher. Didn't played online because there's no server side characters, and I've heard really early on that there were too much cheating, mods, and other junk like that. The game was just too damn small! But I liked the way the skills and experience were gained. ( a bit like morrowind ). I may re-install it it just to see how it feels again. Max.

Carefult, wars have been started over less. :-D That aside, I move onto my next point: Megan Forbes wrote: Diablo 2 should come with a warning - no game will ever match up to it riiiiiiiiiight. I'm sure to get flamed here, but..... Diablo stuck me as just a point-and-slash kind of game. I like RTS and FPS games more, and at least with Quake (and friends), I *know* that the point of the game is to run around shooting people). There was not much in the way of true-RPG (ie: Baldur's Gate and friends) to DiabloII. Diablo tries to add RPG-elements to it, but it's mostly "kill that, grab that gold, kill him, grab his gold, get the treasue, repeat". Then again, there's nothing quite like absolutely crushing the Maple Leafs with the Canucks (NHL2003 and friends). :-D

It was great fun; but what else do you do with a level 81 'zon that can solo most parts of hell (depending on immunities) :) My roommate at uni and I got very good at starting out new characters; typically going from 1 to 25 in a half day (1 to 20 then +5 bonus from the, um, barbarian guys at the summit). Unfortunately my friend didn't know that I was still playing my character, when his bro needed some good 'zon equipment he took mine. Now I've got a naked lvl 81 'zon :((

The thieving tykes! Didn't they even back up your char first? Perhaps back his brother's up, get his to give yours your stuff back, then copy his backed up one back to the Save folder
