      meaning you've been in a fight, usually not physical, and showing signs of the fight. i.e. getting out of a real important meeting where you had to work hard (fight) for something and you show signs of it...

      This signature was proudly tested on animals.

        Thanks. So there are bruises around the eyes? What "sporting" means here, in particular?

          "Sporting" in this context means "showing off a" For example: sport - wear or display in an ostentatious or proud manner; "she was sporting a new hat" Definitions are here.[^] And a "black eye" is slang for a bruised eye. Often when getting punched in the head, the part around the eye tends to bruise and blacken quicker than the rest.
