Okay...so...now that I've recovered from my sleep deprivation... I've seen it numerous times - a thread is started, and deep within that thread someone mentions [insert regular CP member here], and that person somehow sees that message and responds. You can't possibly be sitting on the forum, hitting F5 every once in a while, and reading through all the new messages, can you? Is there some sort of notification or IM style tool I'm missing? Or do you just have a LOT of friggin spare time on your hands? I tried "watching" the lounge but that didn't do anything...I didn't get any emails of new threads...so what's the point of that? You know what would be really cool - an MSN Alerts implementation for CodeProject. I love how I can get notifications in an MSN message instead of my email if I'm logged in.

The hardwire acts like its own popup blocker, preventing CG informing us of its suckage.

Liar. I happen to know that you have a hardwire link into your brain from the lounge. That's the only way you can get such a high post count.

I don't know if those are hallucinations or what, but F5 does not works for me. I see a post and after an F5, it just vanishes. That has firmed my belief that I get to see a cached copy of the page instead of a fresh one. BTW I feel that auto refresh rate of 15 mins that CP offers is far too high than what I would like.

It's not necessary to be so stupid, either, but people manage it. - Christian Graus, 2009 AD

Wha!? :wtf: CP really has an auto refresh? So if I just leave the browser open in the lounge, every 15 minutes it will refresh? That is sweet! They should make the configurable per user. I'd set it to 5 minutes maximum. BTW, I've seen that funky refresh issue too. I've gone to my article, noted the views, then gone to it again only to find the number views has dropped, but goes back up after a refresh.

How on earth do you get anything done? The constant "context switching" in my brain every 5 minutes would totally destroy my productivity. I'd become a useless forum reading blob that spits out 10 lines of code an hour  If I force myself to concentrate it usually takes me about 10 minutes to really get going, and then I can just keep going indefinitely until I get distracted by something and lose focus. As wonderful as CP is, I think someone should do a study as to the productivity impact CP forums have lol.

Depending on the code, that might not be bad. But if your boss treats you (read: me) like a code monkey, a code monkey he gets.
