Hi, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a book on Managing Software Development. I've been programming for a long time and I'm going to attempt to make the move to MGMT. Although I know Mgmt is kind of a bull-topic I wanted something that would provide sort of a frame work for development. Any help would be appreciated ..... Jon ...

Journey of a Software Professional by Luke Hohmann This book delves into the sociology of software development from both a developer and a managers point of view. This book is very cool to read and is broken up into about 16 different chapters that range from design and developing code, communication and motivation.

SD Magazine has some excellent articles on software process and project management. Here is the link: http://www.sdmagazine.com/projects/[^] I don't know if they have published these articles in book form though. // Fazlul

'Debugging the development process' by Steve Maguire 'PeopleWare' Two of the best books I've read on software development management. Steve McConnell also writes some very interesting stuff http://www.stevemcconnell.com/[^] and a lot can be learnt from http://www.joelonsoftware.com/[^] Michael Michael "I've died for a living in the movies and tv. But the hardest thing I'll ever do is watch my leading ladies, Kiss some other guy while I'm bandaging my knee." -- The Unknown Stuntman
