Two kids free to a good home

No not really, love my kids but when you can't get them to sleep (they're 4 and 1) I feel like giving them away. Anyway finally got them to sleep and was able to dial in and check Code Project at 11:30 PM Sydney time. While waiting for the page to load I turned on the late night movie only to find Flying High II (I think they were called Airplane in North America) on the box. Haven't seen this in years and am loving the piss takes from many of the classic movies (just got the '2001 a Space Odessey' reference even though this is at least the 7th time I have seen it). They were probably not the first movies based on sarcasm and poking fun at other movies (there is a term to describe these but I can't think of it now) but they were the first I saw as a kid. Don't get me wrong I can't go past Science Fiction, Testosterone filled no plot everybody being killed by the good/bad guy (Martial Arts/Action), Comedy, some Horror though can't stand any of those Sucky Feel Good Girly Love Stories or Musicals. :-D Do other developers/lounge dwellers out theree like these sort of movies or do your tastes lie elsewhere? Loved the header - I know how you feel. We had four of them in the house last night. Is that called a satire, or a parody ? I'm not sure. My all time favourite comedy movide is probably Monty Python and the Holy Grail. We actually watched Blade last night, and most of my DVD's are in this vein = Lethal Weapon, Die Hard, The Fifth Element, Aliens, and ( it goes without saying ) The Matrix. I agree about sucky chick flicks. My wifes favourite movie is Pretty Woman - a film about a slut. Naturally, when I point this out, I don't get any for weeks..... Christian I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in. The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Can't say that I have kids yet (one day though, one day), but as for movies I'm with you about musicals etc - cannot stand them. My current favourite film is probably American Pie or X-Men (yeah, I know) - can't wait for American Pie II. I do love some of the classics though, like this one time.... > Andrew.

I like a Sci-fi movie (Star Trek, Star Wars, ect) or a good comedy, although I don't watch many movies. My favorite TV shows are 22 Minutes and the Royal Canadian Air Farce. Two satires of Canadian news and politics (You would have to be Canadian to appreciate them):-D --- Multitasking: Screwing up several things at once.

I'm right in there with you - 3/1-2 yr old son and 1 yr old son. My wife and I are separated and I get the kids at night. 1 yr old goes to sleep 8-9 and 3 year old goes to sleep about 9. Then I finally can get on my computer and play. As for the movies - big sci-fi/fantasy fan. Can't wait for Lord of the Rings in Decemeber, followed by Star Wars 2 next year. I also am a big Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire, and Gene Kelly fan. As for comedies - when I was in the National Guard, my XO and CO were Blazing Saddles fans. We usually ended the day with a cigar and some quotes from the movie. Phil Boyd MCP "I took the road less traveled..."

No kids, no telly but two cats that walk all over the keyboard when I'm trying to write that next killer app - or even worse, a grovelling email to the bank manager. Favourite comedy is Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, when Mr. Creosote explodes - I can barely breathe I laugh so much. As I don't have a telly I watch DVDs on the PC - not bad once you get used to the constant whirr of the drive!! Any other developers out there not have tellies? Stravaiger Le gach deagh dhurachd

Ah, musicals... I don't really appreciate them, except for one: Mary Poppins. That's just one that is hard to dislike; it's "practically perfect in every way". I also like a lot of the Disney cartoon movies, such as Hercules, Little Mermaid, Lion King, etc. Those are not real movies but they could be considered musicals. I find them very entertaining. I remember watching Airplane back in the early 80s and finding it extremely funny. That scene when the woman sitting in the plane goes hysterical and a whole bunch of people line up to calm her down: the first one just yells at her, the second one shakes her, the third one slaps her, the next one has a bat, the next one a gun, etc... that was hilarious. These days, however, movies like that I can barely laugh at. The "this is supposed to be funny" stuff is just too obvious and it rarely cause more than mild amusement in me. Yep, the magic is gone I guess. I like hardcore action flicks, like The Matrix, Pulp Fiction, and Arnold Schwhatever movies. I'm not a fan of horror movies -- getting scared is not fun. Can't wait for The Matrix 2...

Don't like musicals? What about South Park the movie? It was a musical! (If you don't believe me, go and watch it again!) Have fun, Paul Westcott.

ROFL! My wife digs action flicks, I got her into Jackie Chan (Project A, Supercop and esp The Drunken Master) as well as the sucky chick flicks. She's a programmer and a gamer as well! We play Diablo II together (I have a 45th lev Amazon, hers is a 44th lev Sorceress). -John
