    Two versions of this update[^] currently seem to dike it out on my system - they come with different titles, but refer to the same KB article. A minute aftre one is installed, the other says it needs to be installed again. (We have a local WSUS server running here, so that's why it might be that frequent) Well, I've told one now to shut up - I hope it's the right one. This post intentionally not titled "Why Windows Update Sucks Today".

    Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]

      I have the same issue, trying to ignore it and hoping it goes away silently

        Same here, Bitdefender 2010 keeps telling me that!!!! I just hope it doesn't mess up since I got a bluescreen about PFN_LIST_CORRUPT last night.... :sigh:

        #define STOOPID #if STOOPID Console.WriteLine("I'm stoopid!"); #endif

          I've got a tool on my home PC that will parse crash dumps and tell you what driver is to blame. I don't recall the name, but if you want could check this evening.

          3x12=36 2x12=24 1x12=12 0x12=18

              No, but in a few hours I'll post a URL to the dump analyzer.

                The tool is http://www.resplendence.com/whocrashed[^] If you're running vista/weven you'll need to run the app as an admin and may need to take full ownership of the folder with the dumps in (not sure this fixed problem 1, problem 2 needed to be run as admin).

                  Funny you mention that, I must be a mind reader. I downloaded that tool (last night 11.30pm GMT) but it could not tell which driver it was. "This was likely caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe", not informative I must say. But thanks for your suggestion. First ever bsod in a year wouldyabelieve! :-D Take care and best regards, Tom.

                    Unfortunately that means it wasn't a driver; and was probably MS's fault. Could've been a cosmic ray though...

                      more than likely, that there was a small spatial anomaly in the time/space continuum... :laugh: til then, Live long and prosper, Tom. P.S: Saw Star Trek last night - was good fun indeed hence my trekkie speak! :-D
