      Article says :

Researchers hope to see signs of new physics in the aftermath of the collisions, helping them unlock the secrets of the Universe.

Don't know why but when I read this I had this image in my head of an entire tiny universe being created where one day tiny life would emerge ;P Damn I need to stop watching movies ;P

"engineers increased the energy of this 'pilot beam', reaching 1.18 trillion electron volts at 2344 GMT." I just ate a chocolate bar that contained 7.5 trillion trillion electron volts. Can't they just study me instead? :-D

No it didn't, they were arrange in parallel, not serial, so you have a lot of potential but very little impetus. This is caused by eating too much chocolate! :)

------------------------------------ In science, 'fact' can only mean 'confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional assent.' I suppose that apples might start to rise tomorrow, but the possibility does not merit equal time in physics classrooms. Stephen J Gould

Are you saying barneyb81 is impotent? Sorry barneyb81 could not resist.
