Did you ever have one of those days you knew you shouldn't get out of bed [modified]

I'm walking back to my office this morning and I notice my left foot feels different than my right. I look down to see what is stuck in my shoe and notice that it's the shoe itself. I have on two different shoes. FWIW, it was dark in the garage and I was very tired this morning. I think I'm going to sit at my desk the rest of the day. Unfortunately, I have to go out into the public for a few minutes to fix a machine. We also have customers here today. Maybe I can tell them I kicked so much *rear-end* this morning I wore out my shoe and had to get another. Only 8 more hours to go... :( [UPDATE] So I go to the one machine I had to fix and as I'm leaving someone tells me my shoe is untied. So much for not being noticed. Luckily I work in a small shop so hopefully everyone is done saying what they need to say by lunch. It gets better, I did some minor damage to the machine while I was fixing it. It's going to be a long day... [\UPDATE]

Put them on the wrong foot. That'll stop all comments, for sure. :)

I'm in sneakers and jeans. Button up shirt though. If it's any consolation, both shoes are Puma.

Grrr... I work for a hedge fund, so jeans and sneakers are a big no-no... Dress pants and work shoes are so uncomfortable...

I did this just last week. I found a nice pair of comfortable shoes for work so I bought a pair in black and a pair in brown (I am female and yes I needed both colors. :) ) I have walked out of the house at least 3 times now wearing one black shoe and one brown shoe but last week I didn't catch it and ended up at work like that. It made my shopping easier but I have to double-check my shoes every single morning now!

Years ago, I started a new job, and since it was only one and a half miles from home and summery, I decided to cycle in on the first day. Got up, put on the suit and tie, got on the bike, and realized I had no cycle clips - no problem, string will do. At the end of a busy day (mostly trying to remember some of the names of the multitude I was introduced to) I went to leave to go home - and realized I still had the bright green nylon garden string tied round both trouser legs...

I have a solution... Only one pair of work shoes. If only they'd let me wear sneakers to work... And jeans... And a tasteful black T-shirt... Man, I'd even take a pay cut if I could do that every day. On a side note, though... I had a more annoying situation a couple weeks ago... Somehow I had managed to get a minor cut in the middle of my back, but hadn't noticed it before. About an hour before lunch, at the office, the friction from my shirt somehow opened it up, and it started to bleed... Nothing serious, but the back of my white shirt had blood stains on it... Spent the rest of the day trying not to leave my chair, until my boss called me into an office for a quick chat (Unrelated)... He never said anything about it...

I've worked in places where I've worn tshirt and jeans before. Comfortable: yes. Idiot-proof: No. My PM came into my office to check up on status and I noticed he was looking quizically at my leg, but said nothing. After he left I noticed I still had the tags on my new jeans.

Cycle clips? *holds back laughter* You probably know cycling is rather popular in the Netherlands.. yet I've only seen them once, ever. Anyway, why did you need them? Does your bicycle have an exposed chain?
Yes. Only old lady bicycles have enclosed chains in the UK!

Or make like Mr. Rogers... keep a pair of shoes and cardigan in the office closet.

This is part of the reason men have, MAYBE, 2 pairs of shoes in most cases. I have sneakers and work shoes. I never get them mixed up. Were I to have 2 of the same style in different colors I would probably get weird looks from co-workers for having them match...

I was running a little late due to traffic during my first week at a new job, so I get to work, find parking on the street (not easy to do some days). Well I sit down at my desk and immediately realize I've left my keys in the locked car, which wouldn't have been so bad had the engine not still be running! DOH! :-O Borrow a car, drive the hour home and the hour back with the extra keys. I still get razzed about that. :)

I'm in casual shirt, jeans, and running shoes. Compared to some, I'm a tad formal. Of course, when you're working in commercial ink-jet, there's always the imminent possibility of baptism(*)... (*) Not that we move ink around under high pressure, but it can get messy.

I locked my keys in the car with the engine running one time. It was winter so I started the car to let it warm up while I cleared off the snow. Imagine my surprise when the door didn't open. I thought about busting out the window, but decided to go back into the plant I was working at and see if I could find a better option. There was a piece of welding rod that I could push the button with. As it turns out, it was a good thing the car was running because I couldn't get the unlock switch but I could hit the power window. I'm glad my car was still there. It was a '94 Trans Am (I think this happened in '98), bright red, and I was working at a GM plant in downtown Detroit. Just to give you an idea of how bad the area was, every store and a few houses had bars on the windows and I was passed at a red light one time.

That certain feeling that hits your stomach during the moment of realization is unforgettable.
