Christmas eve, I will be drinking the bestest coffee known to man or beast [within the confines of home] when I fire up this baby[^]! Christmas day, my family and I will go to the Best-Damned-Christmas-Lunch [tm]; also known as "Grandma's". Mrs Wife will be driving home. Then it's a week in Wales doing welsh things; though not #that# welsh thing.

Xmas eve: I have to book this off work and venture across the M25 to Suffolk, to stay with the GF's parents, carrying all our stuff to last a few days plus pressies. Xmas day: After having opened pressies and eaten at her parents, we then have to pack everything back up, and drive 2 hours north, yes, ON xmas day... this is to see my parents, open pressies there and eat again! By that point we're tired as hell and want to sleep. It's the 3rd year we've had to do this, gotta keep everyone happy, but neither side thinks how much of a pain it is for us :(

I can understand crossing the M25 to get to Essex, but surely to get to Suffolk you have to cross the Great Temporal Rift that lays on the boundary, and people cross this at their peril, for on the other side they find themselves back in a distant remote past filled with danger and in-breeding. Where the locals still point at cars, and there is a severe danger of Tractor Terrorism. Hasten back across the Badlands and return to civilisation unharmed and unchanged my friend!

Yea, it's always worth it when we get there, we flip it each year. Each family takes turns in which half of xmas we're there for.

 As much as I like her family, they honestly couldn't be nicer to me, I hate Suffolk so much. I'm not a rural person, I find it all quite "meh" and during the summer it's especially bad, my hayfever goes off the scale there, I can manage it here.

We can't do both families in one year, wot with mine here and Mrs Wife's in Hungarorsag. This may well be our last Christmas in the UK as Her Regal Wifeness's contract ends in July and the fighting and bitching for who gets the job next year has already started so she'll be shipped of home. Considering my parent's are self-confessed old farts and getting-on-a-bit, this might be the last chance I get to spend Christmas with them. Then again, it might not.

I have to give in to mine everytime she wants to see her family, afterall, we picked up straight after uni for me to come here for this job, and she's stuck in a dead end til I can find something else (been here over 2 years now) or I can convince my boss for me to work from home and move away (being considered by the powers that be!).

I will be on a plane to Paris (from Montreal) on the 24th and will be celebrating Christmas with the family there! don't know exactly what we will do, but I know there's going to be lots of Champagne involved. and with the jet-lag, probable 48 hours of coma after that. :-D
