Just got BSOD on Windows XP, in rather an unusual way
-
For no apparent reason, Windows came to a grinding halt, and then made a very loud beep. And then the blue screen showed up, but the thing that I really found strange was that every pixel of every character on the screen in the error message appeared one by one, instead of all at once like it should do. It went like this: A couple of pixels of the letter A, then a full A. Then the same for the next character etc. It kept doing this until I pressed the space bar, it then tried and failed to make a beep, which just sounded like white noise, then restarted  I've never come across it before.

Creating a bootable CD with several operating systems on.Perhaps your processor or Graphics card overheated. Also check the capacitors on the motherboard to see if any have bulges. Last, a computer I was working on a few weeks ago worked find with one memory stick in it but crashed during BIOS post with a 2nd on in it. I finally discovered that setting the PC133 memory back to PC100 (the buss speed of the processor) stabilized everything.

Yeah could have done, although it did it about a month ago and my laptop was well ventilated at the time and did'nt feel warmer than it should have done. It seems OK now too, as im using it right now. I will keep it more ventilated to be on the safe side :)

Creating a bootable CD with several operating systems on.I keep a secondary fan blowing on certain laptops of mine to ENSURE they are cooled enough. Had 2 Sony Vaio STB no me because of inadequate ventilation. My HP (with it's 3 huge fans underneath) stays cool enough without the addition fan but I run it anyway.

That is kinda... prehistoric. :~ Or is it something else?
