Just got back from my little break. New hair cut. New tattoo. New Black eye. A couple were arguing in the pub. I said to the man not to treat his wife like that (calling her some offensive names in public), and he just punched me in the face. What a nice man. He was kicked out immediately, and I awoke with a Shiner. Always something going on in my life! Anyway. I now have a USB symbol tattooed on my upper left arm, and this... < /head > < body > tattooed on the back of my neck. And a hell of a week end under my belt. I have just put a leg of lamb on and when Michelle returns from town I will be stuffing my face and hoping my eye repairs quickly.

You need to work on this story. First, don't say he punched you, but rather say you hit him in the hand with your face. Second, don't dwell on your shiner, but stress the significant (although unverified) damage your face inflicted on his poor hand. :-D [edit] You could even make a film of the incident - 'Faces of Fury', Starring DD. [/edit]

She must not have liked the haircut. Either that, or his, er, 'impure intentions' he mentioned in an earlier post.

After marriage, nothing is impure. It's the intention part that seems to become, shall I say, problematic? Marc

My dad was perhaps the opposite of the wisest person in the world but one of the things he told me was that if I ever step in during an argument between a man and his wife; I should be ready to fight.

You got lucky! Davey boy you should know that if a couple is arguing in public not to get involved! It could have been a lot worse!

While your intent was honorable, and commendable, I strongly suggest that you learn to duck. I've stuck my nose in domestic issues like this a couple of times and found, much to my surprise, that if he doesn't attack you, she will. No matter how helpful you're trying to be, you become the bad guy in both their dysfunctional little minds. Still, I wouldn't hesitate to do it again... Good job! :-D

Sounds like you need to learn how to practice the "Art of Peace" (a.k.a. Aikido). You might want to study it for the long term. In the future, anticipate the same thing happening, and then react appropriately. "To injure an opponent is to injure yourself. To control aggression without inflicting injury is the Art of Peace" -- Morihei Ueshiba Kind regards, ~ d
