I know where I can get a free copy that may not quite be legal. However, I'm working with High School students and I want everything on the up and up. So I want a LEGAL, cheap...or free...copy of windows 7. It's for a computer to develop software for our Robot. I'm donating a slighly older computer with Linux but we need Windoze. Thanks

You could buy an OEM copy[^]. The 64-bit OEM copy is the same price, but you have to buy it separate. If you buy a retail copy[^], you get both versions (32 and 64-bit) on the same DVD.

Geeze - that's a frakking paperwork nightmare. He only needs one copy - not several hundred (or even five). I doubt if he'll get it approved by the bean counters. Unless he's lucky enough to be part of a school district that already has such a license, he'll be better off just buying a single copy at retail price.

Thanks, the machine I have is 32 bit so the OEM version is good enough.

If you've got an academic email address, you can get it for $30.00. It's a little different to the academic volume licensing because it's available to anybody with that type of email address, not just whoever's signed up.
