We have multiple TV's in the clinic and we want to be able to put the DVD's in one computer and play them on TVs. I know this is possible and right now I only have 2 big screen TV's to play on (may have more in the future) what would you suggest for hardware that can handle this and I'd like to be able to do this on multiple TV's. I might be able to do it over CAT5 (network) but would like the option to do it wirelessly. Suggestions?

I would think that you can set up multiple monitors, so long as you have a DVD player for each monitor, or you copy the files to the HDD. The issue is probably, how many DVDs can one PC decode at once ? If they are just DVDs, you can get DVD players for $30.

Visit www.blackbox.com[^] and look at the video distribution hardware for ideas, then look on the net/google for cheaper identical solutions.

If they don't need to be synchronised cheap DVD players are cheaper than the cabling to connect the TVs.

You can make things very complicated or very simple...the problem is, things can get complicated quickly without you realizing it. For starters though, on the idea of keeping things simple, I'd look into AnyDVD - good grief, my clickety isn't working again, so here's the raw link: http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html This solved ALL of our issues playing copy protected DVD's over a network.

You mean real TV's? I'm not sure then how you plan on doing this over Ethernet then? Sounds more like you'll be cabling coax. Wireless, BTW, should not be a problem if the decoding is done locally. I couldn't get the network utilization past 5% playing 4 DVD's simultaneously over a 100Mbps link. If you want to go the complicated route, then you can rip the DVD's to HDD and play them on machines "locally". Not much different than, erm, some other industry I'm involved in. Marc

I'll second that! My wife picked up a couple DVD players at WalMart for $14.95 each and they work fine with the old TV's in our rental home.

If the cheap multi-dvd hardware option is not what you are looking for... http://www.networktechinc.com/vga-extender.html[^] This should work properly for you... Then only a normal PC would be needed in order to read one DVD and the splitter and ethernet would be the only needed hardware. Hope this helps... :rose:
