call me a fool but... For the benefit in keeping this kid-sister safe I thought I would replicate what I saw, with a link to this site governing stocks...[^] It was a link highlighting a number of things with a picture of Bill Gates.. to quote... "Since creating Microsoft in 1975, Bill Gates has held an almost perfect monopoly...Allowing him to rack up a $50 billion fortune along the way...But right now he is nervous...The Microsoft software is obsolete. And 72% of Japanese are already...Using the technology that will replace it...New reports reveals the stock ticker of the company will profit most from the 'Death of Microsoft'" Any ideas if this is a scam/spam/whatnot? Have a peaceful new year to you all and best wishes, Tom. :)

Yeah, Microsoft is shite, I am all using WIndows 7 now.
Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]

"Many : not conversant with mathematical studies, imagine that because it [the Analytical Engine] is to give results in numerical notation, its processes must consequently be arithmetical, numerical, rather than algebraical and analytical. This is an error. The engine can arrange and combine numerical quantities as if they were letters or any other general symbols; and it fact it might bring out its results in algebraical notation, were provisions made accordingly." Tomas Brennan wrote: Any ideas if this is a scam/spam/whatnot? Whatnot. I get these all the time via email. Stock brokers get paid straight commissions on trades, and the unscrupulous ones send out this crap to attract the terminally stupid. The stocks they pimp are usually penny stocks traded on the pink sheets, for which there are few, if any market makers. This sort of solicitation is blatantly illegal under SEC regulations and NASDAQ rules; both require full disclosure in the form of an audited prospectus and annual report, but if you corner one of these scammers he won't want to provide them. Like infommercials, they're toxic waste, and not worth the trouble of clicking the mouse.
