Feedback wanted

We've always prided ourselves on working with you guys and girls to make this site as useful to you as we can, but sometimes we'd like to ask specific questions on stuff that we are thinking of adding or changing. What I want to do is form a group of people who would be willing to spend a few minutes every so often filling out questionaires or providing feedback. It will be in the form of an online survey, and it's nothing sinister - just a chance to pick the brains of those who want to participate in the site's developement more directly, without bothering those who just want to get on with coding. Naturally, I'm in! Having left (workwise) the world of MFC and C++ a year back, I still find myself checking out CP about half a dozen times a day. Of course, I haven't *completely* abandoned VC++. I'm still churning out hacks @ night. Or is it morning...? Too bad about the tour. Hopefully there will be another time, perhaps as part of a MS/Dundas program. But most importantly, congratulations on getting to be an uncle. Twice! At the very least I will have to meet up with you guys either in Sydney or Melbourne (or both?). I'm really bummed out about the tour, but where there's a will there's a way. I will definitely be in Melbourne in a few weeks (my sister is having twins! :D ), and then again in August. I'm sure we could find a cafe and/or pub somewhere... cheers, Chris Maunder

I'll be in Sydney again in November, if that gives you some time to tee up some MicroSoft guys :) A friend of ours had twins ( in her case due to enthusiastic use of fertility treatment ). I hope your sister has a strong will and doesn't like sleeping. We have recently had our second child, but there's nothing like having to deal with TWO diry nappies, TWO screaming kids ( one stops, the other starts, and brings the first back in ), &tc. ( So I am told ). Fun, fun, fun. Christian I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in. The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

Being an uncle kind of rules, because you don't have to worry about if you are being a bad influence. That is, until you have your own kids, then having spoiled the nephews & neices, you worry about THEM being a bad influence :) Christian I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in. The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second mouse that gets the cheese.

I've already taught nephew #1 (3 year old) that he will be a snowboarder when he's old enough (hopefully next year). He stands on my board and makes the appropriate noises. He's also learnt to wind down the window in the car, lean over to the closest available cute girl and go 'How YOU doin' He's also got the cafe/cellphone/latte pose perfect. My sister is not impressed. Soon I'll be able to work on version 2 and 3. cheers, Chris Maunder

Yeah, I don't have any kids myself, but manage to spoil all my nephews & nieces rotten. I do get the odd phone call from my brother & sisters wanting 'a word' about my influence on their kids, but hey, where's the fun if you can't make your sibling's lives even a little miserable? :-) Steve
