I'm listening to the latest Alice In Chains album, Black Gives Way To Blue, for the first time right now. I have to admit I was reluctant to give it a chance. I first heard of Alice In Chains when I saw them open for Extreme (Extreme!) at the Orpheum Theater in Boston in 1990. I ran out and bought Facelift the next day, I was so impressed. They sound much the same now as they did then; this is particularly astonishing given that their original singer died in 2002. It's actually distracting how much the new guy sounds like him, like he's doing an impression. Still, I'm happy with what I've heard so far; the three and a half albums they released from 1990 to 1995 never felt like enough.

He said, "Boy I'm just old and lonely, But thank you for your concern, Here's wishing you a Happy New Year." I wished him one back in return.

My favorite band from that era. I haven't been brave enough to buy their post Lane Stanley work; didn't want to ruin the memories. But, based on this review I'll give it a shot.

Or maybe not :) I hope it is not like the whole Journey thing.

Funny you should mention this, my wife is a huge Journey fan and every time the new singer is mentioned on TV or radio (or really anytime she thinks of it), I get to suffer through raging expletive filled rant on what a lame Steve Perry imitation he is. Gee, I can't wait for the next one. :((

I agree. The new album is very good.

If you can find it you should also give Jerry Cantrell's solo album a listen. It is very good I think.
