Once again, I've ruined a DVD b/c it always burns them with the option I don't want ( formatted so they won't work on all drives )

Yep, I second (or third) that recommendation.

Next time you come across a nice app that just works, don't recommend it to CG. The moment he starts using something, it will fall apart.

Cheers, Vikram. (Got my troika of CCCs!)

I use Astroburn Lite in conjunction with Daemon Tools ... they are both freeware and cover all my needs for burning/ISO/mounting/etc. ...

Vista could certainly do with a lot of improvement. Isn't it a pity there isn't a new version out which fixes a lot of its bugs?

I'd second that, except a few months ago I burned a CD on my daughter's laptop using it and it totally messed up the burn. I tried again, changing settings and it wanted to truncate long filenames (which weren't that long.) Further checking found that CD Burner XP has some gaping holes in it. I installed an OEM Nero 6 that I had and it worked perfectly.

I haven't had any problems with it. Where did you find a writeup about problems with cdburnerxp?

In their forum. You have to do a lot of searching. They had no answer to the problems I ran into. In the end, I suppose it works for some people, but be prepared to end up with coasters. And make sure you test anything you burn on another computer (which is true for all CD/DVD burning software.) As for me, I don't have the patience to bother trying it again. Nero and CD Creator work just fine for me.

I used to use Nero and have nothing bad to say about it. My computer came with Roxio installed, which I didn't like so I went on-line and downloaded CDburnerXP and have been using it ever since. As I mentioned I have not had any problems but if I do I will look into Nero.
