Next time count 1 to 10 before you do that. You never know, that just might work. :)

I feel your pain! And if you get it to work, you cannot transfer a bunch of files to your computer from another device, because Windows thinks its best for you to keep your device hidden. Alright, make it visible and it STILL isn't fucking visible. You should open the crappy little bluetooth wizard and tell that you're going to "send a file" and then your PC will be visible until you send... ONE file. Repeat it for a bunch of files. I can install the software that came with my device, but why can Microsoft just not get it right?!

From my end it looks more like l a u r e n can't get bluetooth working. ducks
Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]

Is that actually MS though? The problems I've had with bluetooth have always been due to crappy software supplied with them. Don't know why it's so hard to make a bluetooth dongle that will just work with the bluetooth support built in to windows. But no, I have to install a CD worth of bloatware, get a bluetooth toolbar in Outlook, IE, Word and other programs, tons of explorer shell extensions I don't want, various systray icons, some synchronization software I don't want (my mobile sync is done via activesync) etc. At least it was cheap but it's just not worth the bloat for me. I've given up on BlueTooth till I find one that just works without needing any extra software to be installed.

It's a Microsoft product - only Chuck Norris can count that high!

Have to agree with you. I needed to transfer a few images from my computer to my mobile and I had to do that one by one. I could have used Nokia PC suite but I didn't had it installed till then. It is weird that my mobile (Symbian OS) can send multiple files through bluetooth but my computer cannot. Although I don't feel that pain anymore since I have got that (crappy) PC suite installed now.

Ive got an old Cable & Wireless USB Bluetooth Dongle, I found on the floor in a Cafe once (Think its a model BTA10CW2 but never seen it as its pretty beat up) It has never needed any Installation CD under Windows or Linux and installs straight off the back of drivers available in Windows/Linux with no problems at all ;P

actually on linux i just connect to my phone and it works ... either bluetooth or usb cable ... for files xfers ... a modem ... you name it ... it isn't hard windows 7 with a built-in bluetooth adapter fails miserably everytime so i DO blame MS and i think they should get their damn act together ... it's inexcusable imo

Eh, the built-in software sucks too. Last time I used it it was to transfer contacts off of an old phone - the process involved something like 5 clicks through some wizard deal for each contact. Took me the better part of an hour...
I use activesync for all my phones as they're all windows mobile, I just need the connection and a COM port.

You mean she should count from 0 to 9, like everyone else.
