Not so great. Wife just rang to say her mobile bill for the month is not the £35 or so we normally get, but £260! Facebook on a mobile whilst we were on holiday in Egypt. She may require surgury to retrieve it after I get home tonight. BTW Congrats to your Brother-in-law.

Ouchies, normally if this is a first occurence though, they'll drop some or all of the charges for her if you emphasise that she wasn't aware or made aware of this at any point

Now that is a sentiment I can agree with.

You should adopt the approach we have. I'll sum it up for you.

First thing I did when I got my phone was to set the data to non roaming. I had visions of windows update on my laptop deciding to pick up a service pack while I wasn't looking. I'd try to query it on the grounds that it should warn you that it's going to do expensive things like that. Not so crazy if you believed that you were using the hotel wireless but for some reason the phone decided to use the phone network.

One of my coworkers ended up with a $1000 bill after his wife forgot about the free evening minutes concept after their first baby was born.
