What do you do when someone passes your code off as theirs? [modified]

You did not write this - I did by guy On January 22, 2010 Anyone who visits CodeProject will realise that you did not write this application - as I am the author. Passing code off as your own is unethical and you will be found out by your peers! Re: You did not write this - I did by Nikhil On January 22, 2010 Yes, you are right i forgot to add your reference ! Re: Re: You did not write this - I did by Vilmos On January 22, 2010 No. Adding a reference implies that this is a derivative work when it is in fact a straight copy. Big up and delete this article along with anything else you stole. Re: Re: Re: You did not write this - I did by Nikhil On January 22, 2010 don't use bad words okay ! my one friend gave this article to me to upload i did not know okay i will delete this !!!!!! Re: Re: Re: Re: You did not write this - I did by Vilmos On January 22, 2010 If you do not know the providence of the code, don't claim it. Scrub that. DON'T CLAIM OTHER'S CODE - IT IS FRAUD Understand?
Panic, Chaos, Destruction. My work here is done.

For free beer, I can be there in [checks watch] four hours... I might actually be that way in a month or so when the weather isn't so brass monkey.

The offer will still be there... and hopefully I won't have a stinking cold like I do at the moment X|

I realise this probably happens all the time - I have found someone passing off code I published in an article on codeproject as their own - they could not even be bothered changing the name of the app  I was just merrily googling my applications, being the narcissist that I am :-\ and found this Clickety Suggestions for what fate should await them gratefully received...

He's listed as a Microsoft MVP. You might let his lead know, and maybe the owner of c-sharpcorner.com.

Are you not able to understand in one time... listen i am deleting this
I don't think he did.
OSDev :)
Neither do I. Along with uploading it to C-Sharp Corner, he also has it posted on his blog[^], you should definitely target him there as well. It really does make me wonder what else he's trying to proffer as his own.

I don't think he has Microsoft MVP, he has passed Microsoft certifications (or so he claims) but that's different than Microsoft MVP. However, he does have MVP from c-sharpcorner.com and yes, I would email owner of c-sharpcorner.com and ask him to remove his MVP status.

Guy, Tell him you want that article removed from that site. Also link to this thread so he sees that he's getting some unexpected publicity. Plagiarists are only a level above spammers, that too barely. :|

My latest book : C++/CLI in Action / Amazon.com linkAs far as I'm concerned, plagiarists are worse than spammers. A spammer is an impersonal offender. A plagiarist has direct contact with the offended person whose work he's stolen.

I don't think he did - I just clicked the article in question and he added "Note : This article is develop under the guidence of Guy Thiebaut." (sic) Since when does "under the guidance" == "written by"?

It's fairly easy to change that on your own site.
Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]
