Lost Highway

I saw this movie this weekend. I knew it was controversial (probably the reason why it appealed to me ;P ), but after I watched it I didn't really understand the movie, so I looked it up. I liked the view of where people where used as feelings and emotions (fear, desire, temptation, ...) However the time line is still puzzling me (in the end he calls on his own door and afterwards is chased by the same cops that were checking his house earlier in the movie (and thus later in the timeline). So you liked it or hated it? What's your view on the movie? (as there is no 'clear' story told, there has to be some meaning to it) (I put the discussion in the Soapbox, because the movie itself is not really kid sister safe)

Stop smoking so you can: Enjoy longer the money you save. Moviereview ArchiveI swear to God that guy is just doing random weird stuff so people will think he's a genius. It's emperor's new clothes: if you think it's random BS it's because you don't get it. Well, I don't get it.

Stop smoking so you can: Enjoy longer the money you save. Moviereview ArchiveA consistent time line hasn't been exactly hight on David Lynch's list. After seeing it, I've constructed my own, yet it suffers the same fate as all other attempts: it requires some extra voodoo to become consistent, and there is no point to it. I haven't even re-visited it to verify my assumptions. Lynch works are highly visual, triggering clichés and then bending them to stab your back. His puzzles aren't for the rational and logic mind (even though some fun can be had with this when searching for the "least magic handwaving" explanation). Still, it's perfectly executed and some scenes are unforgettable - e.g. Llorando, and the casting of the "break up scene" girl.

At least, we don't want to give the kid sister ideas :-O
Personally, I love the idea that Raymond spends his nights posting bad regexs to mailing lists under the pseudonym of Jane Smith. He'd be like a super hero, only more nerdy and less useful. [Trevel]
