@realJSOP said in AI Coding Is Not a "Good Thing (tm)".: I'm talking about the act of using AI to write code and its implications on the general skill level of people that think AI code generators are reasonable and suitable. The sample code given is for a chat with AI, not AI writing code.

Actually I said "a bunch of relatively privileged software professionals", which isn't specifically calling out developers at all, much less as a whole. It looks like you want to misrepresent me just to argue. I don't have time for that. Furthermore. it looks like offense seeking to me. Touch grass. But I will answer your question, by quoting my original post " Opportunities plus work = success. Opportunities. I know several fieldworkers who came here from mexico, never had the opportunity to go to school, can't read and write, and work harder than anyone i know. Harder than I ever have, even with my 80 hour weeks at points. They aren't successful. not really their fault. they never got opportunities." See? and "Counting one's blessings involves some amount of humility and it's an important thing." Is it really so hard to be grateful that you live in a country where you are given at least a basic education?

Well it’s the version that currently exists in the US, at the very least. Frank Wilhoit: “Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition …There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.” We never have had a president* so completely deserving of scorn and yet so small in the office that it almost seems a waste of time and energy to summon the requisite contempt

I am bombarded with GW BS all and every day by the media, sorry if I react to it, but it wasnt me who started it! And no, I dont post anti Islamic stuff that much, but to be sure it is a serious threat to western values. But yes, I have toned down my reaction to rank ignorance recently, to people who just ignore the facts when presented it, or argue like children. Anyway, yes, I intend to take the boat out with my daughter and catch some mackerel sunday, should be good weather, and here in Devon we live in paradise! :)

Never played it. Only games I ever played (and havent for a very long time) are first person shooters, with the audio through a guitar amp. The shotgun sounds SO impressive at 180 watts coming out of two 12 inch cones! :)

Yeah, this is there mistake, we ARE god. Man created god in his image (that is why the British Jesus has blond hair and blue eyes, in the east he has black hair and dark eyes. As simplistic as this is, it is just the tip of the ice berg. Look how in Britain we have gay priests and women Bishops. We have forced christianity to adapt to our values (values that actually stem from Saxon law and culture by the way).) It is literally up to us to make our morality, our rights and wrongs, and our own evolutionary path.

While I don't agree with the performer's politics, that was amazing. Kudos for using the first amendment. This is kind of stuff that was done to both sides when I was a kid.

I am going with the current political climate. And he does admire Kim and Erdogan and Duterte. Summary executions and imprisoning of journalists. Sort of go together. And, even when on his 2016 campaign run, he encouraged violence against journalists (in particular). The difference is much narrower then you think if you take into account the wanna-be portion. Ravings en masse^ "The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits." - Albert Einstein "If you are searching for perfection in others, then you seek disappointment. If you seek perfection in yourself, then you will find failure." - Balboos HaGadol Mar 2010

Well, the 14th Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law. OTOH, you have "hate crimes", "aggravated offenses" due to the victim being of a "protected group", etc. ad nauseum. Yet another case of "The big print giveth, but the small print taketh away". Freedom is the freedom to say that two plus two make four. If that is granted, all else follows. -- 6079 Smith W.
