I have a Microsoft webcam, and Windows is incapable of finding a driver for it, it promises to look online, then comes back with nothing. How is that a reasonable result ? If it doesn't work for MS products, how can it work at all ? Oh, and they don't print the model on it anywhere, making it hard to just download the driver from Microsoft.

This is typical of no-name-brand cheap hardware. Open the thing up, and see what's inside, then google for that. They probably all use the same driver anyways.

Had a "same but different" problem with Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse. The mouse wheel did not play nice with MS Virtual Machine. Went back to Logitech and works flawlessly.

Let's turn this around: How is it possible for one man to have such a consistent run of disasters with hardware, airlines, and telcos?

Who said Microsoft talks to Microsoft? I have had problems with them for many years. When they first bought FoxPro I had a problem that FoxPro would not load if Excel had been opened and closed. Back then Excel had a BIG memory leak. I spent two days on the phone with Microsoft (shows you how long ago, support was free with software) with one group blaming the other. I finally figured it out on my own.

I despise Vista. I am on XP.

Hey Christian, I had to do something similar for a USB to serial dongle I had. It has no markings anywhere, and of course no driver CD either. I also was using XP for it. So, what I did was this: 1) Plug it into the XP box and watch the Found New Hardware boxes. Mine said something like USB to Serial Controller D 2) I took that and googled it - after looking through a few websites, I found a couple of drivers to try. I then found one that worked. Don't if the webcam would do the same, but it might be worth a shot. Other thing you could try is plugging it into a Vista or 7 box or VM and seeing if it can tell you what it is (because they might have the driver). David
