Yes, but I only find myself playing the Wii when I'm drunk or when friends are round. So I guess you must be on it all the time...

Ho Ho Ho. I play the golf game alone, I don't want people laughing at me, but yeah the Wii is great when Kith & Kin are present. But having played all the consoles, I prefer the PS3 over the Xbox, but again, it is just personal preference, I could not give a reasoned account why. I tend not to play when drunk, I tend to crash on the sofa and wander into various websites being annoying. :)

XBox would be my choice. Make sure to get one 3-d monitor as well along with it. There are some amazing 3-d games to play on that.

I got myself the XBox 360 elite just after Christmas, I absolutely love it!

PS3 has better exclusives? As far as I can tell, the only exclusives that were any good on the PS3 were: Drakes fortune (or whatever the series is called), MGS4, and Little Big Planet. I mean its all personal preference. But if you like shooters (like me) then the Xbox is better. Then you have Gears of War, Bioshock, and then RPGs like Mass Effect - [EDIT] Should also mention Halo, Forza, Alan Wake, Fable plus more I've forgotten [/EDIT] all 360 exclusives. The trouble with most gaming websites is that they do lean to one side or the other. You very rarely get an unbiased opinion because by human nature we all prefer one thing over another.

BioShock eventually came out on the PS3 too. I think these days the PS3 is thought to have better exclusives such as Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2, GT5, The God of War series. But as you say its all about personal preference, I have a 360 and a PS3, when I buy a game I consider whether it has online multiplayer and whether I will be playing it online with friends, (who mostly all have 360s). If so then I will go for the XBox version as the online services are so much better. Otherwise I tend to sway towards the PS3.

I love my XBox. It's much better value for money than a PS3.

We have two Xbox elites, two PS3 (I've fitted larger HDDs) and two Wiis in our house. The Xboxes get used more than the others followed closely by the PS3s. The XBox is NOISY and their PSUs can get rather hot though. The PS3 also doubles as a BlueRay player. Tough choice if you can only have one. If it's going in a communal room then I'd get the PS3, if it's going in a dedicated 'gaming' area or a more private location then the Xbox is marginally the better gaming machine if you can tolerate the noise.

Yeah, it is funny isn't it? I mean I had a PS1, PS2 and loved them. Never had an Xbox(1), as I thought it sucked. But really the major reason I tend to buy games for the 360 rather than the PS3 is purely down to the control pad. It just ruins my hands within 20 minutes. I can't sit down and enjoy a game using it. For that reason alone it's fired. Haven't been able to find a suitable replacement 3rd party pad yet...if only I could make my 360 pad work on the PS3 - then I'd be well happy!! :)

Yeah I know what you mean, the controller is definitely more uncomfortable than I remember the PS1/2 controllers being, however is just the same shape as I remember.

That would be in Sony's interest as it's the main issue I see people having with the PS3 these days now they have finally started to pad out the games library a little bit. Maybe someone should tell them :D

Exactly. For me it just seems too small and an awkward shape that just doesn't sit naturally, it barely seems as if it was designed for human hands...

I think for smaller 'petit' hands it's fine - I bet the Japanese have no problem (no offence meant to any Japanese reading this, I'm thinking that most Japanese peeps are of a smaller stature than most Europeans). I mean, no one complained about the original PS controller (me included), but then again I didn't really know any better. Now that I have tried the 360 controller I can't go back. Probably a bit like heroin. Not that I know about that sort of thing.

:) I was never a fan of the PS1/2 controller either, same issues. Though at the time of the PS1 I was an N64 person, and though I had PS2 initially, I quickly disliked it and became a pure PC gamer til the 360 came along. Man the N64, that takes me back :) 4-player Goldeneye on a 15" portable TV and it was still amazing fun :D

But I found some screenshots of it on the internet a while back and it looked like a dogs dinner!! It just shows you how things have moved on! And as for PC games, well, now they are for real gamers! I do love consoles for the simplicity so that I don't have to think about upgrading before I can play a certain game, BUT sometimes console games can be a little too simplistic and not have enough depth.

A couple of years back I got myself a cheap N64 off eBay, Goldeneye and MarioKart :D Guess it all just seems relative from generation to generation. Now I'm back on a proper PC, home built :) I can look into these things more now too, I miss PC gaming. When I last had a PC I was running BF2 on 800*600 on all low settings, now I can max it out easily with full anti-aliasing on a 23" widescreen, can't quite recall the resolution though.

I love the Wii, I have a Tiger Woods game, unfortunately it is only Golf, but I love playing that on the Wii. (The Force Unleashed too!)

Depends on what your planning to use it for if you wnat a large expensive doorstop that will blow up on you repeatedly then try playing games on the xbox. If you want a console that will work day in and day out get a ps3.

I suppose there are a lot of people in your house. :)

If you like shooters/FPS's the most - XBox. Just make sure it gets a well ventialted spot (I've had a few friends water cool theirs, reduced the noise a hell of alot) and if it does red ring (failiure rate has been pretty high but it looks like its going down) be very firm, specific and chase MS support constantly as they have a habit of messing up a few things. I am not a big proponant of the 360 though because I prefer to FPS on a PC. PS3 has yet to assign itself to a genre per se. The exclusives have been very good and it's certainly the one I play the most. If you like your JRPG's, SRPG's and eclectics, yeah, PS3. Plus the whole blu-ray thing which shines for very tech effect dependant films.
