recommended tv & games for PS3

hi guys, after i conducted a survey myself, finally i get a PS3 for myself. since i found that it has more value than other consoles.. problem is, which is the best TV and other recommended games for it? im mainly looking for action, adventure or fps games.. other recommended title you guys experienced also can be considered.. thanks.. best regards, A.Kogulakannan

For TVs, Samsung is always a winner for me. Currently got a 26" 720p that's a few years old now and still doing awesome, a 23" 1080p PC Monitor (recent purchase) and looks sweet for games. When I've got a bit more money put aside it'll be time to look at 40"+, and I'll be looking to Samsung straight away. Games, well the PS3 never captured me as a gaming machine, the games library was fairly weak, the controller both sucks and blows, and everyone I play online with has an Xbox. But anyway, to the point! I quite enjoyed the Resistance series, awaiting the 3rd, you should be able to pick up 1&2 cheap as chips now. Modern Warfare 2 obviously. This one deserves it's own paragraph ;) Yesterday I picked up the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo from XBL, I believe it should be on PSN within the next few days(??). Man is that fun, basically, take Modern Warefare 2, increase map size, add a tonne of cool vehicles and destructable environments, I reckon this might actually make me put MW2 down for a while. The way it operates is just better, in MW2, pinned down? Deal with it. In BFBC2, pinned down? Blow up the wall behind you/melee the fence and MAKE another way around. Ooo, also dedicated servers and party chat allowed (dig at MW2 there) :) Hope this helps :)

Now that Bioshock has found it's way to the PS3 I would definitely recommend that. Am hoping to find a copy of MAG waiting for me tomorrow for my birthday so will let you know if that is deserving of a recommendation when I can :D As for TVs, I have a Samsung 32" looks very nice and was reasonably priced so I will back up the other recommendations there.

My PS3 is connected to my 42" Panasonic Plasma screen :) everyone else I know who has LCDs always come in and go "Wow, the picture quality on your TV is way better than mine" :D As for Games I find FPSs a bit cumbersome on PS3 and prefer my PC for those. Tried Unreal Tournament 3 on PS3 but its not the same as for the PC. 3rd Person Adventure games are prob best on PS3, Games like the two uncharted Games, Brutal Legend, GTA4, those would be my recommendation. Also the online store, Wipeout HD is a superb racer, and Super Stardust HD is a very addictve shoot em up.

Samsung TV's probly provide the best size/price ratio, and as mentioned make sure its full hd (1920x1080). If you can afford it, Local LED backlighting is the best for LCD's. As for games, don't forget the psn store esp some of the pixeljunk ones.
Yup, we just bought a Samsung 32" full hd model, and are very impressed with it so far :)

If you haven't already played the God of War series on PS2, pickup 'God of War Collection' so that you can then fully enjoy God of War 3 which will be released in March :) if you are looking for a challenging action RPG give Demon Souls a try... apart from that uncharted 1/2 is an excellent adventure game as well... if you are looking for platformer's little big planet and ratchet and clank should be considered

My livingroom PS3 is hooked up to a full HD 52" Phillips, the bedroom one is hooked up to a 40" full HD Samsung. I also tried it on the 42" full HD LG in the guest bedroom. Bang for buck ratio makes it easy to recommend Samsung or LG, both superior brands. The Phillips was too expensive in comparison to what it provided. Meanwhile it is important to note that the games comes to life in a totally different way with a proper 5.1 or 7.1 surround system. You can find relatively cheap ones that does a truly wonderful job at bringing the oft splendid voice acting and sound production jobs to life in your livingroom. As for games - a few that springs to mind is Metal Gear Solid 4, Modern Warfare 1 and 2, Uncharted 1 and 2(!!!!) and Little Big Planet. I know, the last one falls outside of the parameters, but such total childlike fun is hard to let go unmentioned. Best of luck, and enjoy your new purchase! //L

Any HDTV will do. Unlike most people, I didn't go for the full 1080p TV -- more for cost at the time and not for functionality. Most of the games run 720p anyway, so there is less resolution switching. Having said that, my next TV will likely be a 1080p model with the LED backlighting. Especially once they drop below $1,000 for a decent size (around 42 inches or so). :) For games, it depends on what you like. Shooters? Go for Modern Warfare 2 for new, or you can get The Orange Box (Half-Life 2, Episode 1, Episode 2, Portal and Team Fortress 2) for around $20. For action games, I'd go with the Uncharted games, Demon's Souls (action role-playing) among others. If you have a family, Little Big Planet is an excellent game. Not only is it a fun game, but it also includes excellent level designing tools and up to four players local and online. The upcoming ModNation Racers will have the same concept for kart racing as well. On the PSN, someone mentioned the PixelJunk games. They are great games, especially PixelJunk Monsters. Also, check out the PS1 Classics. There are less than 100 games in the US store, but they have some excellent older games such as Final Fantasy Tactics, Final Fantasy VII and VIII, Castlevania, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider and more. They may not look the best on modern TVs, but they are playable. If you have a PlayStation Portable, the PS1 games can be transferred to it and played on the go. Some other great games on the PS3 (genre):
- Folklore (action RPG)
- Grand Theft Auto VI (action)
- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (stealth)
- Disgaea 3 (strategy RPG)
- PixelJunk Eden (puzzle)
- Critter Crunch (puzzle)
- High Velocity Bowling (sports)
- Zen Pinball (arcade)
And there are a ton of other games as well. :) Flynn

Hi, Haroon. I've been playing the game for about a month now. Definitely my favorite game right now. Just defeated the Tower Guardian demon in the first world. Challenging isn't the right word for this game. Downright brutal is more like it... oh, wait. We don't want to scare A.Kogulakannan off the game. :-\ I've poked my head into each of the five worlds so far (lost it several times as well, heh). I've slain a couple of the major demons so far (the Armored Spider, Phalanx and the Tower Guardian and the Red Dragon). But a lot of time spent going through some of the same areas so I can farm some items for upgrading my weapons and shields. Found a nice mix of magic and spears work for keeping enemies at a distance. Helps to have a decent bow as well. Flynn
